Well I said I didn't like the current fluff for the synapse nodes and had my own version. So here it is "Vanguard drones and warp drones are constantly forging ahead of the main Hive Fleet for new planets to consume. When they find such a planet, they make daring raids insystem to deliver cargos of scouting organisms such as Genestealers, Lictors and some Gaunt variants. One of the most dangerous and insidious organisms they deliver is simply known as the Hive Nexus. The magos biologis have yet to discover what kingdom they belong to, since they exhibit traits of all the major kingdoms (plant animal, single cell and fungi) as well as having traits similar to virus' and prions. When first deployed, its spores dig deep into the soil where it connects to the root system of local flora, hijacking them to provide energy to its every growing bio-mass. Once it has achieved this it begins to dig deeper and spread outwards. It perverts the DNA of the planet's native organisms as it ensnares them so that their fruit contains its seeds instead. These in turn corrupt the DNA of the animals that eat them, thus spreading it further. It is possible that it will continue in this role indefinitely, however the approach of the Hive Fleet stirs it into action. As the first wave of Bio-drones and Spores drop through the atmosphere, great columns of flesh errupt from the ground, throbbing with physic power. These are used as rallying points by the Hive Mind to gather large swarms with which to assault the defenders. As the swarms move from their intial landing sites, new Nodes spring up in front of them and expand the frontage on which the broods can be controlled. As the new ones spring up the old ones, roles change as they continue to grow turning into, first spore chimneys, then into capillary towers for the great Hive Fleet ships to feed from. As the Hive Fleet begins to devour the planet the Hive Nexus shoots up millions of smaller shoots. These cover the land in a heaving mass, ripping apart any non 'Nid organism and delivering their remains to mutated flora that eat it to provide sustenance for the swarms scouring the landscape. Due to the violence which the local flora exhibits under the control of a Hive Nexus several members of the magos biologis theorize that deathworlds such as Catchan and Certacia are the result of a Hive Nexus whose Hive Fleet perished, resulting in the death of the Hive Nexus, leaving its corrupt DNA within the flora and funa of the planet." What you'll think? Note: the last part was writen before the lastest 'nid codex came out, but meshes quite well. |

I like it! Can you tighten it up to a few less paragraphs and/or write up for the two different types of Nodes? |

Rather than re write it (my hose mate wants her laptop back ![]() 1) Remove the last three paragraphs. They merely explain what happens in the next phase. 2) Have this discription followed by both synpase node entries, since it is identical for both of them, with the only differance being lesser nodes are recent shoots and greater nodes are a bit older. |
