I was windering if anyone uses the expectorator? To me its seems like too much of an investment of the independant allowance for what it does. I would prefer a stealer brood or pay 50pts more and get a hierophant. The only rerason I can see for tkaing them is against AMTL or OGBM where their range can strip the shields to allow dacto- exocrine and lyco-exocrine arillery broods to attack an unshielded target with a greater weight of fire (since EX's will be hitting WEs on 5+ when sustatining) Solutions 1) Reduce the points cost 2) Increase the barrage value 3) Give them MW (they do have macro spore mines after all) 4)make them a brood option of 1-3 per brood. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing them at 1BP MW (assuming MW using infantry to hit on the barrage table) and a brood of 1-3. This means they can get upto 3BP MW disrupt, which hits everything on 3+ when sustaining, but with only one template. This feels right for 750pts (a big chunk of the independant allowance but allows you to rain death on a single formation a turn, or nuke a titan) |

I agree that the nids sholdn't be able to do everything and lacking an air force and having weak ranged shooting is in keeping with them. However the EX is designed as long range anti titan artillery, but it seems to fail in this roll. Prehaps with an artifical points increase to make it less of a nobrainer (well if we can get it to wrok properly) Though I agree that I would take titans in CC wherever I can. Also where did you get the 9BP from a formation of three from? Are you still using the offical EX has 3BP rules? Rather than the "Thats just silly it should only have 2BP" rules. |
