Turn 3
Synapse Node 4 appears right on top of the Tyranid Blitzkrieg, just outside the ZOC of Tetra Beta.
Strategy Roll: Tau
Feeling the pride of serving the Greater Good, Armoured Cadre Alpha pops-up and sustains fire on Tyrant Brood 2. ?The slaughter is immense as 3 Haruspex, 2 Termagants, 1 Exocrine, and the Tyrant itself crash to the ground riddled with holes.
Not to be outdone, Armoured Cadre Beta pops-up as well, sustaining fire into Warrior Brood 2, obliterating 2 Raveners, 2 Termagants, 1 Carnifex, and 2 Warriors!
A troubling thought disturbs Synapes Node 4? it might not survive to spread the swarm! ?It calls down the remaining Mycetic Spores and spawns a remarkably large new family, much to the horror of the nearby Tetras! ?From what was once a peaceful forest glade grow 3 Haruspex, 3 Raveners, 2 Zoanthropes, a Lyco-Exocrine and 1 *very* angry Carnifex! (Rolled 17 pips on the spawning attempt! ?Was only saddened by the fact that I had so many models in my Spawn Pool to choose from?)
Tetra Alpha advances on Warrior Brood 2, trying to position themselves near their own Blitzkrieg, but the presence of Node 3's brood doesn't let them get close enough, and they fire on the stragglers stripping away 3 Termagants and a Ravener.
Confused by this new battle condition: Victory?! the Moray hesitates, hesitates some more, and then fires on Warrior Brood 2, killing a Ravener, a Zoanthrope, and the last Tyranid Warrior. (Man, those Air Caste guys really don't know how to listen to Fire Caste commands! ?That was the second "snake-eyes" activation for the dang thing in two games!)
The headless broodlings of Warrior Brood 2 make a desperate attempt to engage Armoured Cadre Beta. ?Their desperation pays off and 2 Hammerheads are destroyed at the cost of one Ravener, sending the Tau grav-tanks back into their rear area.
Node 3 sends its brood forward to fire on the broken Armoured Cadre Beta, but are only able to fell one Hammerhead as it crashes into some ruins in the ensuing confusion.
Realizing the victory party will be no where near the massive brood that has just arrived, Tetra Beta doubles back toward friendly territory, staying just on the Tyranid side to fire on the remains of Warrior Brood 2 to no effect.
The Greater Good has prevailed and the Shas'O intends to ask the Ethereals to withdraw the invitation to join the Greater Good from the Tyranids.
End of Turn: Tau 2 (BTS, Take and Hold) vs Tyranids 1 (Blitzkrieg)
Well, that certainly went south in a hurry! ?Tau definitely have the firepower to knock out the Tyranid synapse links; coordinated fire is scary! ?And all those skimmers really make it hard to bring down their armour. ?Even with all the firing and skimming, I think I'd rather face Eldar than Tau with the 'Nids!
