Post subject:  [Rules] BM idea?

I've been thinking that nids not suffering BM is a bit.. well nasty for the opposition.  So I was thinking that when they automatically suffer a BM, ie failing an activation roll, rolling a 1 for teleporting, maybe coming undefire, but not for suffering casulties.  They suffer a single hit one the majority unit (or weakest armour save if tied).  This could represent the whole small ones getting stamped on in the stampeads a hivenode growing though some granite and damaging its hive ganglia ect.

I'd sign up for this for teleporting, but not the rest. I do feel kind of dirty when my opponents points out I need to roll for BM "sorry mate, no point!"

The other stuff doesn't need anymore negative effects. IMHO

Cheers Scott

There were a number of suggestions concerning this on the old board - I know I suggested a rule, as did a couple of others. I'm sure someone could search round and unearth those suggestions. Mine was simply that Tyranids took BMs for anything but casualties, and if it took a number greater than the number of Synapse Creatures present, then the formation would be forced to take a Hold action as its next action, as it regroups and is slowed down/disoriented by the enemy assaults, etc.

I take it your idea also has it that they don't take them for coming underfire, NO-1.  Otherwise tyrant lead formations would never doing anything of value.  Also what would happen to the indepdendant formations that took BMer?

Well, my suggestion was made before the Hive Tyrant was made a seperate choice from the Tyranid Warriors. Even then, it was a relatively undeveloped suggestion - the full details hadn't been, and still haven't been, worked out.

An idea I had today, is that independant broods suffer from BM like normal, possible with ATSKNF.  Since 'stealers and 'vores roll Ld tests as normal when out of synpase range in 40K.

Stealers and vores have brood telepathy, which makes them use normal moral and pinning checks when outside synapse range.
