Sorry if this is a self evident question and I am missing something obvious, but I downloaded the Epic UK PDF of the Tyranid list and I'm confused by the Nest Swarm.

I'm guessing that you're paying the points cost to set it up somewhere on the board as Overwatch? As it can't move I'm guessing that it's more something to put biovores and dactylis around as a threat to the enemy.

The main thing to remember is that the formation can Garrison, so you get to deploy it up the table, and potentially in Overwatch at the start of the game. Apart from Biovores, I’ve also seen GlynG make good use of Hormogaunts to initiate assaults due to their double-distance assault move plus the 15cm Coherency from the Hive Nest (as it has 3DC).

Yeah Nest Swarms are ace! I have an unusual artillery tyranid army with 4 x Nest Swarm, each with 3 Biovores and 1 Dactylis for a potential 16 barrage templates of disrupt per turn. Two of them starting on overwatch and one with an extra Zoanthrope or two to make it the BTS.

I placed joint second at a tournament last year with the below list, which is considerably better than I've ever managed before (normally range between mid table to finishing last at tournaments).

Normal Assault Swarm 2 Tyranid Warriors, 3 Termagants, 5 Hormagants

Oh nice! How useful are the spore mine clusters? I thought they looked a bit vulnerable.
