Game 4 played with HFD, and a batrep has been posted. Game 5 has been played as well, I'll try and finish the report for it this evening.

Two games on a turn 4 draw. They were good reads. Whats the win lose draw % so far for all 5 of your games?

We haven't bothered to check what kind of draws we've got tho, as we're using the E-UK scoring method.

Realized I had managed to get the wrong link to the first game. That's another loss for the 'Nids, so it's actually 2 draws, 2 losses and 1 win in 5 games.

Not a good match up playing against necrons with a drop list but i really wanted to try it and i wanted to use a hydraphant. The necrons ended out coming out on top 2-0 end of turn 3, blitz and BTS. The pylons got a lucky shot on the hydraphant turn two, 3 wounds plus 2 criticals, one was a second 6... dead titan. This is a brutal critical. The attack swarms did really well and are well worth the points. The big issue was the Necron initiated the majority of the assaults so the gaunt rule only worked once. There were a lot of assault actions but the nids were on the losing the majority of the time. My opponent used the monoliths to screen the troops then initiated assaults using the infantry. The monoliths would make the saves and a lot of gaunts would die. Skimmers plus FF assault infantry make for a hard fight for the nids.

The hydraphants performace was very underwhelming its good in assaults but has crappy ranged weapons and is very vulnerable to TK weapons. The drop didn't do much though it was nice to have the large swarms on the objebtives without having to slog up the board. Not the best lost more a bunch of stuff i wanted to.try all slapped together.

Great that you've been able to get the army to the table, and that you've got more planned!

Some really bad luck there with the second 6 on the Hydraphant. It's big and nasty, but also quite fragile when faced with competent TK shooting. I know it's easier said than done, but I think it might actually be best to have another BTS when playing with it, as it is really vulnerable to e.g. Deathstrikes. I think this would also make it easier to use and more problematic for the opponent, as he doesn't really want to waste activations on it then, but kind of will have to if you put it in his face.

Nice that you liked the Attack Swarms, I've been concerned that they're too expensive compared to the Harridans, but while slower, both types have certain qualities that the Harridans lack.

About putting 'Nids in drop-pods, so far I've personally had greater success dropping smaller formations than big ones, and I would probably have replaced one of your Major Drop Swarms with the cheapest possible Minor Drop Swarm (3 Zoanthropes, 5 Termagaunts and Mycetic Spore). This is still dangerous, but very affordable.

Utilizing the Gaunts special rule is far from trivial, but it really helps to have activation superiority. Genestealers are one way to achieve this, they may be helpless against Skimmers but even then I think the distraction they provide, their lack of Synapse Creatures that can be knocked out and their Scout ability more than makes up for it.

I also like mixing Termagaunts and at least some Hormagaunts as the latter really helps increasing the Engage-range of the formation, and can by-pass Skimmer-screens thanks to their Infiltrate. They can also be really good to use to Engage with in FF, particularly if you have some support set up and/or can win on blastmarkers and outnumber (potentially 4, even with no kills).

As always turn 2 (and/or 3) is really important when playing 'Nids, as that is traditionally when you will overwhelm the opponent in Engages.

Would be interesting to see if you could get some Trygons on the table, right now we think they might be the inferior choice when compared to the Raveners, but then again they might not be, the Trygon Prime is really tough.

Have to disagree about the hydraphant not being the BTS to be more effective, your activation count would be less than 9 since two formations would be at least 1125 points. That doesnt seem like a plausable solution. The hydraphant and heirophant are not worth taking in their current incarnations. Their shooting is very subpar (bio plasma not bad but very limited due the range). I understand their power is supposed to come from their assault potential but when you break it down its rather underwhelming also. You opponent will stay out of CC range since its only 25 cm and their FF ability is not even as potent as a group of monoliths (hierophant less hydra on par). I have be trying to incorporate them into a list but they always come out as a detriment as they can't make their points back and very limited utility. Also the 5+ save on the heirophant makes me cringe. Its much worse than a plague tower at the same points.

Except I've just constructed a list with this combo that has 11 activations, so it is definitely possible to pull off. No idea if it's good anyway, but this is a type of list I'd like to see someone run at some point.

Ok got a bunch of games im with this list. Slowly working on the write ups.

Been playing formations heavy with Biovores with good success. The versatility of them in small and hive swarms are amazing.

Had a good game against Feral Orks this past weekend standard tourney scenario. I didn't take good enough notes to make a legit bat rep but I did write this narrative for kicks.

"Where dem hummies" the feral ork warlord wondered as his boys pillaged and wrecked the until reciently populated imperial cities. The horde were amped up to kill all the humans and had been building their numbers for months to make the latest attack on the city. They had a big surprise this time for them this time. Daz's mech boys had fashioned a mega gargant that was rolling in from the West. The bulk of their ground forces stormed over the Eastern defenses full of Waaagh only to find the place deserted. Stuff left haphazard, munitions and weapons strewn around the fortresses.

A runner burst onto the roof, "Boss, we gots bugs! BIG bugs! Lots!"

Daz'Nag had seen the big bugs before a few moons prior when one of his hunting parties came back with a few corpses after a run in. The bugs had killed a few of the orks before going down in a hail of shoota fire. "Gahhh weak" he thought to himself.

The ground began to quake and the sky darken. The hive fleet Dagon has arrived.

A wicked smile broadened on Daz's face, "Boys, lets get to killing!" The blood lust still raging in him, he signaled the advance. Fire erupted over the horizon. Communications came in that the Mega Gargant was on fire and the main boiler was going critical. There was a flash and the ground shook suddenly. The coms from the gargant were only static. Daz had worked years on that gargant. Recovery became priority.

The ork north flank advanced at reckless speed. Boys, bikes, boars and a smaller steam gargant rushed headlong westward. They met a cloud thick with spore mines that confused and hampered their progress but they weren't taking many casualties. The ork out-runners engaged the swarm and the orks were obliterated. The steam gargant took several direct spore-mine hits that dazed the crew. A harridan swooped in and landed a critical strike. The gargant exploded spectacularly consuming a legion of gargoyles. The large band of boys hunkered down in the forest their advance halted at the sight of their conrads and gargant being mowed down.

Daz'Nag was taken aback at the killing power of the nids. The very big bug approaching the fortress in the south east was particularly killy. He came up with a new plan, bite them back. "Throw the squigs!" The squigs launchers fired hundreds of hungry biting balls of fury. They tore apart the majority of the smaller bugs but that big one wasn't phased.

The hyrdaphant approached at a quick pace shrugging off shoota fire like it was inconsequential. It spewed forth a torrent of steaming acid that melted orks where they stood. The dominatrix advanced close behind it and engaged the horde of orks holding the fortress, shredding orks with its talons and bursting rhem apart with its psychic powers. The legion of gaunts following in its wake shooting millions of small boring bugs that caused the orks to jump around screaming before they died. The survivors of big mob routed and and ran for the forest. The fortress was lost to the bugs.

Daz'Nag seeing defeat looming rallied his personal mob to action. Rallying the other big mob and engaging the Hydraphant and dominatrix in a last stand effort. They inflicted serious wounds on the dominatrix and hydraphant, the hive mind reeling from the backlash tempered the advance. They had completed their task however and the trap was ready to spring. The hivemind activated the lictors who sprung from the forest and slew the warlord and his nobs. The remaining ork forces scattered.
