Some old epic models are getting made and updated for 40k:

Exocrine:

Haruspex (this looks particularly good out of the new models IMO):

Also a Tyranid Prime (seems to be a lesser than Hive Tyrant leader):

Harpy:

Crone (more of bomber version of the Harpy):

Updated Tyrant Guard:

That tyrant guard doesn't look half bad either!

Can you see them now? They were to big to just post directly and Taccom forum code didn't allow resizing in the [img]-tag so I posted links.

He has also done some superb ships for BFG as well.

The images were just taken from Warseer and still display fine for me here. Try here instead.

Thanks for the Winterforge link! I hadn't heard of him.

Now we have a better shot of the whole thing that's a really disturbing model (I'd love to see and paint up and epic version):

Wow that thing just screams, "I had a traumatizing puberty." Eeewww...

Seems like a little too much. Like the turducken-style Centurion. I've always felt like Tyranids are at their best when they're hordes of melee-equipped smaller creatures. Like hormagaunts instead of warriors, genestealers instead of warriors, warriors instead of hive tyrants.

So far i like the new designs. Stil dont' know why everything needs a normal head but otherwise...
The tyranids lack dynamic poses and creepieness. i think this is a good step in the right direction.
