I recently did a trawl of nid conversion ideas. This is what I came up with: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=20416 viewtopic.php?f=7&t=18942 viewtopic.php?f=7&t=18998 viewtopic.php?f=7&t=18140&p=349659&hilit=tyranids#p349659 viewtopic.php?f=58&t=20787&hilit=tyranids WarmasterNice and Fredmans have both pushed the boat out with regards to tyranids scratchbuilding and conversions. Hope this helps! |

Onslaught Miniatures makes some nice bugs. |

The 40k Tyranid range probably has some useful bits for converting the big beasties. |

I've also seen Hordes Legion of Everblight beasties used as 'nid war engines to great effect. |

I've been looking but P&P to the UK is pretty expensive plus I'm mostly sorted for the little guys (which is what onslaught seem to be doing more of) using DRM minis in their stead. I have a handful of rippers and some DRM medium beasties that are about to become zoanthropes ![]() I saw someone else post about using hormagaunts with a tail sculpted on to use as trygons, which I think is probably the route I'll go down for those. Raveners.. not so sure. Ulrik wrote: I've also seen Hordes Legion of Everblight beasties used as 'nid war engines to great effect. and yea, I've seen MephistonAG using LoE minis in his 'nid army (and been torn apart by them on more occasions than I care to recount!) For some of the nid models I've resigned myself to picking up the old metals, painted up 3 carnifex so far with a hive tyrant en route, the zoanthropes above are on the workbench and being converted as I speak and I have a handful of infantry from DRM being assembled. Thanks for the suggestions guys, it'll keep me busy for a bit longer ![]() |

One tip I got from warmasternice was to use the Forgeworld rippers. They are more expensive but the arms are separates which makes for a whole bunch of scything arms at a variety of sizes. I think there's also a reasonable range of sizes for different uses and, of course, the sculpts are more detailed. I think they're about £11 for nine which shouldn't break the bank too much... |

This thing arrived today and I thought it might have a use as a serpentine close combat Hierophant. Didn't buy it for that, but thought occured to me when I plonked it on the desk next to rest of the mess. http://hordesofthings.blogspot.co.nz/20 ... -wyrm.html ![]() ![]() |

Wow I may try and convert one of these with gun arms. $14.99 is a steal for a biotitan. |

Checkout Onslaught minatures for good proxies. AndrewGPaul wrote: The 40k Tyranid range probably has some useful bits for converting the big beasties. Indeed, this bio-titan from the Epic lounge is (I believe) entirely made from 40k tyranid bits: ![]() |

Yep - warmaster nice has done some great things with 40k bitz, Forgeworld rippers, plasticard and green stuff. It's the main reason I decided to get a nid force... |
