The purpose of this thread is to try and get agreement on the stats for Tyranid warriors.

TYRANID WARRIORS

9.2.1:

Code:
Type Speed Armour Close Combat Firefight
LV   20cm  4+     3+           5+

Weapons        Range          Firepower       Notes
Venom Cannon   30cm           AP5+/AT6+
Deathspitters  (15cm)         Small Arms
Slashing Claws (Base Contact) Assault Weapons Extra Attacks (+1)

Notes: Fearless, Synapse.

Leviathan:
Infantry
Speed 15cm

Onachus: Note: represents earlier style. Onachus stats are not being consolidated.
Infantry
Speed 15cm
Armour 5+
No Venom Cannon
Deathspitters have 15cm AP5+

Jormungandr:
Infantry
Speed 15cm
Wings option (Speed 25cm, Armour 5+)

All the varients agree that they should be Infantry and speed 15cm.

Onachus makes a weapon change, I'm not sure why, and reduces the armour to 5+, which I think is a misrepresentation of their 40k stats.

Jormungandr adds a wings option ala Hive Tyrants. Personally I'm not in favour of either of them having it, but if one has the option the other should too.

Same comment on the wings as for the Tyrants - 2 stat lines will make it easier to tweak the stats for balance.

On 15cm speed, this would add another option for theoretically garrisoning a Nid swarm. I'm not sure that's very important given the unlikelihood of an infantry-led, 15cm speed swarm with the current unit stats and the inability to do tricks like having a harridan drop off its broods to a garrisoned synapse creature. It was just the first "could this cause problems" thing that popped into my head.

No opinion on the LV/infantry issue.

2/3 SM/TL models have Deathspitters so I made the stats WYSIWYG. I figured 2 S5/AP5 blast weapons were close enough to a Heavy Bolter.

On the armor, if your sticking to straight 5th edition then 4+ is more appropriate. But the earlier stuff has them at T4/W2/Sv5+ (3 are slightly better then 5 Ork Boyz), that's why I went with 5+ (slightly better then Ork Boyz).

Hmm, I may have to leave Onachus out of these debates, or mark that it is trying to represent earlier versions if you're not looking to consolidate stats.

Onachus has the Hierodule as a DC6 War Engine. :)

He's looking to use stats that represent the Tyranids as they were 15 years ago, which is not what all the other lists are doing.

I'll keep them listed, but mark them as intending to represent older versions and not consolidate.

In my comparison sheet 5th edition changed a lot of stats, but a later hive-fleet list should be following that more closely than what I'm following for Onachus. I think the IG tank pattern approach will probably get us over the biggest discrepancies however.

Re: the bigger tank bugs and bio-titans, I haven't touched those stats yet. I tried to break the changes into two separate iterations for testing.

Understood, I'm keeping the Onacus stats in these threads for reference and ideas, but noting that they're not looking to be consolidated like the rest.

A 18"/24" 40k weapon having a 30cm shooting attack in EA seems like a stretch.

Barring a (very) few large guns such as Demolisher Cannons, 95% of weapons in that class end up as Small Arms.

Tau Pulse Rifles (18")
Demolshier (24")
Assault Cannon (24")
Plasma gun (24")

All have a 15cm shooting attack in Epic.
With sufficent preconditions (Strength 5+ and either Assault 1+ or Heavy 4+ or Rapid Fire or a blast template) a 18"-30" weapon will add 1+5cm to a shot in the WhES. This can give a previously Small Arms weapon a 15cm ranged shot.

For example: One recondition for ar ranged shot is Strength 5+ with Assault 2+. Now we assume a weaponwith Strength 5 butonly Assault 1. If the range is only 24" this alone wouldn't generate a ranged shot in Epic.
Now you look atthe range enhancer table and see that Strength 5 with Assault 1 is sufficent to give this Small Arms weapon a 15cm ranged shot (15cm AP6+ in this case).

15cm I agree with, not 30cm though.
