I also voted yes for absorb: whilst I like that only synapse creatures and independents can hold objectives I also like the added tactical thought that must be put to use by a tyranid player to help maintain a never ending horde if your synapses do get blown away.

Also, it should be pointed out that absorbing is a tactical choice with benefits and detriments. You're bulking up effective formations with less effective ones, but you're loosing an activation, and quite often it's number of activations available on the third turn that wins or loses games.

a yes vote - I don't think it adds that much complexity in game play but does add some interesting complexity to the 'nid players tactics - do I hold this swarm back to absorb this synapseless mess but end up with the resulting swarm out of the action or do I abandon this now largely useless group of Gaunts?

I think there are plenty of other places to reduce list complexity that won't affect list flavour as much as rule.

To me I think it comes down to how clearly and simply the rule can be worded. The current wording is just huge, and that's half the problem with the nid list.

Something simple like:

A formation which has lost all its synapse creatures may choose to merge with a formation that has synapse creatures remaining by moving into coherency range with it, and declaring a merger. The units become one single formation for all purposes from then onwards, and retain the total number of blast markers from both formations. The merged formation may not take a further action this turn. For purposes of Tie Breakers, the old formation counts as destroyed.

Is anything else needed?

Zombo: I think we're assuming something simple like that or the Onachus version.

Hena: Just because you don't like the changes being proposed, there's no need to call them "silly messing about". You don't want it changed, we get that, but most people do.

I'm not sure people really want change, but maybe just one solid Core list and development of that said list.

I'm pretty sure everyone involved in 'nid list development, except perhaps the AC, wants one solid core list. The problem is that too many people have fundamental issues with the core list (except Hena "I'll think about 75pt Land Raiders for a couple of years"), so either the core list gets modified to sort out those issues or we have a bunch of separate 'nid lists. Just sticking fingers in ears isn't going to make it magically improve. I've looked at the 9.2.3.whatever and gave up when my eyes started bleeding and my brain turned to a sloppy pool at the top of my neck.

one of many reasons. I think children were another main reason, but I forget why :)

70-30 is pretty clearly in favor of merging. I think we can safely discuss mechanism.
