Hi guys,
new to epic and new to the forums, have mustered up 10,000 points of nids and just have a few quick questions...

1) Wondering why and how do you use the synapse node?

2) how and where do you place your dactylis..

3) biovores, are they worth it?

4) How do you set up your formations, are there units i should avoid? guess I'm asking whats good and bad?? I have only played a few games and really have no idea...

Any help would be great...
Cheers

cool thanks for the response, that is somewhat helpful.
Can you give me an idea of how you setup your synapse groups?

your synapse swarms seem very small.. 2 single HT's, 3 Warriors, synapse node and the Dominatrix.
How do you protect your synapse creatures?
do you think you need more?

Synapse Node has movement 0, which makes it possible to garrison, despite it being a war engine. You can therefore set it up (with Dactylis) in defense of your objectives, stretching between the Blitz and one T&H objective. It is very resilient, and with the capacity to spawn, your opponent needs to dedicate troops to claim your objectives.

I have tried to use Biovores, so far without any real success. With the 9.2.1 rules, I see two uses. Since it is a LV, it can be used with Warriors, advance/march into dense terrain (primarily buildings). Since your LV does not need to take dangerous terrain tests, you can set up a fire base to support your other swarms with sustained fire in the following turns. The other use is to put them with a Tyrant. This formation can garrison, and therefore you can put it in a building or forest from the very start. I find it a bit more fragile, though, especially if the enemy formation has a mixture of AP/AT attacks.

I have not found any real use for Meiotic Spores yet. I just try to soak losses instead, by keeping my swarms big and keeping the synapse in the centre of the swarms. There are some suggestions to improve this unit, though, so I am curious about changes in v.9.2.2 or 9.3.

I have not found any single unit (except for Spores) that you should stay away from. Some units are a bit more situational than others, though. I find Lictors to be of little use against Marines, for instance.

have a couple more stupid questions...

1)The spawning rule, I am under the assumption that I can only bring back common broods or uncommon broods., is that correct?
2)Can I put a wound back on the dominatrix with the spawning rule?

3)If I can only bring back common or uncommon broods, can i bring back a trygon or the raveners that was purchased as an independent unit?? or can I bring back gargoyles that were part of a harridan?

Obviously they'd have to spawn near a synapse unit.

Let me know

ohh one more.. lol sorry for being such a noob!
I am assuming synapse creatures cant be spawned... I played a game against imp guard friday night and found it tough to keep the synapse alive.
Can those that play let me know how many synapse groups they have in 3000 points?
I had:
1 Winged HT
Assault group
Dominatrix
synapse node

Should I be using more?

With Nids I tend to go for 9 activations in 3000 points. With a dominatrix and a synapse node, that would leave points for at least three more synapse swarms. As you probably found out, you need to invest points in synapse protection. Assault spawns are excellent value. Those RA armour saves can really save the day. To protect warriors, use Raveners since they are excellent value anyway. The winged tyrant works best as an upgrade for a warrior brood. Then, it becomes expendable and can be used offensively. Alone, you better roll those 5:s.

I have a question. How are you guys playing CC/Sniper? Are you limiting it strictly to actual base-contact units, or can it be assigned to any allocable assault target, like normal CC hits?

Based on RAW, I'd lean towards the latter, but it's not exactly a strong case and since this is the first application we can issue a clarification either way.

The former. If a Lictor is in contact with two units we declare which one the sniper attack is going on and roll. If its in base contact with only one then that's where the attack goes.
