As I said in the general army list discussion, who uses Exocrines in their current state? I have not seen Exocrines in any battle report on this forum. I used them in my last battle and found them lacking. My chief concern is this, if a unit is not chosen, something should be done to make it a viable choice. From my point of view, Exocrines do not cut it because of the 2:1 ratio between common and uncommon broods. To build a decent Exocrine formation, I would need to take 2 uncommon slots, and severely restricting my army in the process. Also, indirect fire is much more reliable than direct fire to target specific formations. Compared to the other two choices, Exocrines fall short in every aspect. My suggestion is to put them in the assault spawn group, 3 for 175. I know that shooting is supposed to be limited in the tyranid list, but I find this change hard to abuse, since every other facet of the army is geared towards assaults. Furthermore, it would add some flexibility to the list in general. In 3K, you could theoretically field 7 swarms of Tyrant, 3 Exocrines, 8 Gaunts, but I cannot see anyone fielding it in earnest. You still need independent formations for activations. Of course, 2 Tyrants could shepherd 6 Exocrines in a "tank" formation, but that would still be 550 points, and "why not?" /Fredmans |

Quote: (Hena @ Sep. 27 2009, 18:35 ) I would make their own group. I don't use them as if I want to take artillery Dactylis is better choice. Would you prefer 2 or 3, and for what price? I agree that Dactylis is better. |
