I'm set to inherit a nid collection this weekend out of which I'm looking to build a 3k army. I've been scratching my head & come up short on ideas of how to model raveners, any help here would be great. (as would pics if you got em!) Also has anyone made any heirodules? What's a good size? I've heard of people using warriors as a base & other using gaunts:S Again any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers CM |

For Raveners look here: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/forums/ ... =7;t=15457 But most use Wh40k Rippers. For Hierodules? No clue other than heavily convert W40k Tyranids. Or ask Evil&Chaos. |

I just had an idea! The metal Harridans from GW/SG without wings look strikingly similar to Trygons. Just bend the tail in shape and add some limbs (perhabs from FW Rippers?)! But is it the correct size? |

Raveners appear to generally be 40k rippers. Personally I will be getting the old metal direct sales ripper bases, cost a bit more (at 2 models per base it's £2 per stand) but I think are smaller. For Hierodules I've used gaunts. Lot of cutting and greenstuffing. Harridans and Vituperator are based on gaunts as well. Greenstuff wings built on scything talons (Harridan - Gaunt, Vituperator - Warrior). Lot more work on them though. Hierophant and Hydraphant I've built from warriors. I mounted the tail the wrong way round and greenstuffed out the back armour with scything talon legs. I've got a couple of trygons from gaunts as well. In the end large Tyranid bits box + Box Gaunts + Box Warriors = 4 Scythed Hierodules, 4 Barbed Hierodules, 3 Trygons, 3 Harridans, 2 Vituperators, 2 Hierophants and 1 Hydraphant. |

I've tended to think the current Dominatrix model is about the right size for a 3DC hierodule. And there's a convenient choice between finned and fin-less trixes. Of course that leaves the question of what serves as the 8 DC dominatrix... |

I have converted an Epic-Hierodule to look more similar to the Wh40k-Hierophant. Its abapout the size of a Warhound Titan wichis about right. Epic-Hierodules should be smaller. So a Dominatrix ist still to big. |

Here's my Hierophant using the old Epic Hierodule and various 40k bits; going to make a "gun" Hierodule for my other one. |

Veryvery cool looking. But considering the size of the FW-Hierophant biotitan with a Warhound Titan and a Hierodule here: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Tyranids/hphant4.jpg http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Tyranids/hpanttitan.jpg It seems way to big. BTW: Has someone a comparison shot of a FW-Ripper (the big one farleft on the picture below) to the body of a GW Epic-Harridan? http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/rippers.htm If they are similar in size they could be used as Trygons. |

For Trygons i've used old skool metal rippers. For the Raveners i think i'm gonna use new plastic rippers with a bit-o-converting (make em slimmer etc.) For Hierodules I'm using gaunts not quite finished yet tho. |

How do 40k old skool rippers scale up in comparison to the old trygons? Too small surely? (for a DC2 warengine) |

Awesome minis, Chroma, Vermis and Jeridian. I hope the Tyranid player in my club likes to tinker around with bitz and greenstuff. Have to ask him today.  ![]() |
