In the v9.1 thread, Tepoc brought up the idea of allowing more Tyranid Warriors to be added (along with a reductin in stats, but that's a different discussion) to Assault and Nexus Groups.

What are people's thoughts on allowing "extra" Warriors, at an appropriate cost, to be added?  Are people having trouble keeping three units alive?  Other than Eldar, there aren't that many armies that put out a high volume of sniper units that Warriors are vulnerable to.

Discussion?

I almost never lose all the warriors. Fearless and 4+ armour save makes them tough to kill. Usually I seem to have bunches of 3 warriors running around by themselves, having lost all their gaunts...  :sigh:

3 is traditional for bugs too...

So you're saying we should allow for a Group of three Hive Tyrants?

Have you ever fought against Eldar Rangers, Markconz?

Yes couple of times but only against 8 units in a game. 5+AP 30cm range and a 4+ save, I like them odds...  :;):

And yes 3 hive tyrants sounds fantastic. Yes please  :p

Sniper drops that down to 5+... add in a crossfire from teleported Swooping Hawks and you're taking real trouble!

Would you pay 300 points for them?

Shh about crossfire nastiness...

3 Tyrants for a carnifex or similar swarm - yes I'd pay the points for a single armoured brood I think. 250 might be more appropriate than 300 given the activation/commander loss.

Just because there exists units that can take advantage of the 'nids Synapse dependency doesn't mean we need to add something into the list to combat it.

I say stick with the static synapse sizes.

And don't forget that they can hide in cover, and are generally towards the rear of the swarm because of their movement allowance. Like others, I am reluctant to make this change - strengths and weaknesses are all part of the game to be exploited / defended by each player.
