This is one of the few unit stats that I disagree with in the 'nid list. I'm curious about what others think of the fexes loss of RA?

Play wise, they often find themselves in the spawn pool. Do others find it difficult to make their points back with them given their current survivability?

I want RA for fluff reasons - a single macro shot shouldn't have a 100% chance of killing a huge hulk like a fex.

That is another driving factor for me too.

I think Fexes should have 4+ RA and Tyrants 3+ and invulnerable save. Just to make them different.

I think both should have RA 4+.

4+RA for Carnifex and Hive Tyrant sound svery sensible.
The Carnifex is very hart to kill in Wh40k and the Hive Tyrant too because of its Tyrant Guard bodyguard.

In 40k, the base Carnifex and Hive Tyrant have the exact same Toughness, Wounds, and Save... so they should be, at the base, equally tough.

Considering with bio-morphs and psychic powers, they should be pretty darn tough.

Yes but the Carnifex can get extra Wounds and Toughness, a better save and Regeneration where the Hive Tyrant only gets a better save, his Tyrant Guard and perhabs a Warpfield.

A "Screamer-Killer" Carnifex, which is supposed to be the closest approximation to the Epic one, doesn't have any of the Wound/Toughness/Saves enhancements and has the same stats as a base Tyrant.

I think they both creatures should be *tough*... with "only" 3+ armour, it makes me extremely sad when both types evaporate to Orky Soopa-guns.

Actually Carnifex starts at +1 T over a Hive Tyrant.

Fully upgraded, a Carnifex will have +1 T and one more wound over Tyrant but will lack an invulnerable Warp Field save.

If you give 4+ RA to the fex and leave the Tyrants as it is now, there wouldn't be much difference between them. As I said before 4+ RA for the fex and 3+ Invulnerable save for the tyrant I thinks suits best.

IMO a fex should have better armour than a Tyrant (even though in 40k are about the same) to better represent its role in the brood. Also a Fex and a Tyrant should't be the same in combat. Perhaps give the fex a CC value of 4+ or give the tyrant MW, EA(+2). The tyrant should be nastier than the fex in CC.
