Okay, after a lot of Hive Mind communication, here's the latest version of the Tyranids. ?WOOHOO!

Some things have radically changed, a lot of special rules have been removed, and some stats and values have be altered, so I highly recommend a thorough reading of the document before you play!

Some highlights:

Instinctive, Regeneration, and Voracious are gone.

Relentless is now +2 to initiative tests to Engage in the Action Phase or Rally in the End Phase.

Disposable renamed "Expendable", and granted to all Brood creatures.

Spawning is a "global" roll modified on a swarm-by-swarm basis.

Most war engine DCs increased.

Most Synapse creatures have gotten leader, as Tyranids are now fully succeptible to Blast markers.

They may be more, so read and digest!

Please let the Hive Mind know if you find any obvious errors.

Thanks!

NOTE - Hive Tyrants should be "Synapse (+1)"

One quick question. Do you roll 2D3 per formation or do all formations use the result from a single 2D3 roll for spawning?

One "global" spawning roll that is applied to each swarm.

I thought it was clear, but it's good to see it with the eyes of a newcomer.

That was how I read it but just wanted to check.

You roll single 2d3 and all formations use it.

That certainly cuts down on the number of rolls in the end phase. For my sake I hope Dave rolls a lot of 1s and 2s.  :D

While less time intensive due to the lack of rolling, a single global spawn roll is going to have a bigger influence on the next turn than multiple spawning rolls per swarm. I'll give it a whirl this weekend and let you know how it feels, my gut says that a greater sampling is better balance wise though.

No RA Carnifex? Come on the thing is at least as tough as a Tyrant.

*I* want it... but the rest of the Hive Mind doesn't, for now... *laugh*

Let us know how they do.

Yes, the "global roll" will either produce a lot or next to nothing.  I'm not so sure about it, but it certainly does reduce rolling (one of Jervis's imperatives) and may produce the "wave of bodies" the Tyranids are infamous for.

Hive Tyrant has EA (+2) MW now, that's a typo I take it carried over from the Harridan?

Also, the Vitoperator has Planetfall... have some ideas for the Phase III list Chroma? What about my Harridan's making planetfall?

I actually went looking a while back and couldn't find it.  Here's the current one from Chroma's Epic Army List entry on the SG site.

I like it.  Much simplier.  Though I still think that swarms shoul be fixed at the start of the game, to increase streamlining.
