Alright lads, time enough has expired, which list are we gonna use? Chroma, it's time lock in a choice so we can all get down to getting ONE list right. Be that we chop some rules out of each version and meld them together; or pick one of the three. For unity's sake people have to cop it on the chin that their own particular version might not be the one. Folks, we have to face the fact we can't all play our own version of this list - it's not practical. We can't hold up development because one person might get offended his rules aren't the ones to be used. Too many other people need a solid list to playtest and having 3 is a nightmare of Epic proportions(pun intended ![]() My 2 cents (and I hope how others feel too). cheers all! |

I agree. Although I don't get an opportunity to play much anymore, still try to keep myself updated on most lists. The 'Nids howeWer is one LIST that I must confess that I have lost completely track of recently. After the split up it has become very difficult to maintain some idea of where this was heading - at least not without having to do soe extensive reading first. This won't be a problem for the core playtesters who frequent these forums often but for people getting into this, or the casual forum goer it has become extremely confusing. I don't have a qualified opinion on which list I'd prefer, but I definitely agree with Dobbsy that it is time to cut to the bone and start to consolidate things again. |

As I mentioned in the first Deathmatch thread, the deadline is May 31st, new info may be posted before then, but playtesting is still ongoing with the current variants. With the return of Jaldon to the Hive Mind, with testing in his neck of the woods that hasn't been posted here, nor using any of the variants other than his own evolutions of 8.4, it will take a bit of time to assimilate all the info and birth a new list. ? Additionally, I'm waiting for some answers from Jervis himself that will influence how we proceed. Thanks for you patience and interest! |

I would like to reiterate my feelings that the Deathmatch has killed the Nid development stone dead. I seriously hope this isn't a development process used again for any list. |

(zombocom @ May 23 2008,02:02) QUOTE I would like to reiterate my feelings that the Deathmatch has killed the Nid development stone dead. I seriously hope this isn't a development process used again for any list. Actually, I felt it opened up a lot of interesting avenues of thought and lines of potential development; there were many people with strong opinions about various aspects of the Bugs and they got to express and explore them. What seemed to me to "kill" things, was that people outside that "strongly opinionated group" didn't want to explore the various lists; they just wanted to *play* the "right" one, instead of *playtest* the options. That's why I had the 8.4 list posted to the Specialist Games site; the "Genus Variants" were for people who wanted to be on the cutting edge of development, but I guess that got lost in translation or something. I should've probably been more direct with the whole project, but everyone involved is a volunteer, so how do you force them to play variants they don't "like"? Anyway, it'll soon be drawing to a close. It was an interesting experiment, and I certainly won't be repeating it. Thanks to all who have participated! |

Just as a heads up.............. The work going on behind the scenes was something I had planned on doing before the company carted me away to some Pacific Islands ![]() Not to worry all that much as Hena, Chroma, and Neal aren't going to let me muck things up, plus I do like the work that has been done so far. What I wanted to tackle was the plethora of Special rules on the list and try to see if we could cut down on them and still get it to work properly. Sorta like could we do this within the framework of the game and still get the same effect the Relentless rule gets? The only non-special rule item I wanted to change was the WE DCs and Regen for them, as it seems that they just aren't as fearsome as they should be (And I am loath to stick more weapons on them) All the ideas I brought to the table were messed around with while I was away (Using my paper travel armies), and while not fully playtested, by any means, they do have some grounding. Which brings me to the point of all this, and goes in line with this thread. The Tyranid Champion encourages ALL PLAYERS to experiment with off the wall, all your own, in the pocket, ideas. Then when you post them you'll have more then just an opinion to bring to the table. Trust me I'll listen to any ideas any of you may have, but I'll listen closer if the idea has been used in a game and you can give a cause and effect result along with the idea. I am only sorry I missed this most excellent idea ![]() Thanks All Jaldon ![]() |

Given a number of Tyranid armies turning up in London - could I suggest these ideas are summarised very succinctly (with appropriate links to the details). |

Consolidation and discussion are currently ongoing... Think there will be consolidation before the 20th and the New England Tournament? Or will I be giving the 8.4m one for fling for ol' time sake? Also, more importantly, will you be joining us? |

The current important question is how London tournament people feel about using a new list if it comes out during weekend? I'm lending my 'nid army to Ginger for the day, I don't think he'd mind too much. |
