Mirroring the out of coherency rules for synapse control is the cleanest and easiest way I think.

Ya, it sucks when a sole Tyrant dies and my Carnifex and Zoanthropes go to ground but that has only happened once so far.

However, what happens when a synapse group is destroyed before the swarm activates, and another swarm activates and moves over to it, getting those brood creatures in its synapse control? Can the leaderless swarm activate and stay put, joining the new swarm at the end of the turn?

Technically, the leaderless swarm isn't out of synapse control until it moves, and when it does it just needs to restore it. If it can get with control of another swarm within one move I think it should be able to stay on board.

Chroma:

I want to crack the whip a bit, here.  We're nearing the end of our supposed "catch up" month for NetEA.  Do you have an ETA on the next evolution of the Nid list?  It would be really great if we could get a definite direction and new iteration by the end of the month.

Should be doable... I'm just torn on how radical I want to go with this evolution.

I'll throw my hat in with 9.2 rather than a 10.0. Mosc could probably be assuaged to let me bring that to Games Day.

Why the desire for slow evolution instead of rapid assimilation of some of the new ideas that have been presented?

There are problems with that suggestion of Ork like structure (I'll post some comments to there).

The main "problems" are it's just something I whipped up as a rough draft, wording and explanation text would clear that all up.  *laugh*

I'm in favor of small changes between versions so we can evaluate them in a somewhat closed environment. Adding huge changes every revision makes it rather difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of issues and to find the best solution.

We've got a lot of testing in with the current list. I'd rather keep on tweeking the special rules and unit stats with the current list and get them right. Once we have those we can work on other lists or modify this one.

I think the no difficult terrain tests, spawning when regrouping, and your unit stat changes would be enough for a 9.2.

I would suggest a 9.2 AND a 10.0 list. The we could see which list seems to work better.

In a perfect world, that would be great... but it strays too close to the "Deathmatch" project, I'm afraid.

I may post up the v10beta list though, just to get people's thoughts, not necessarily playtests.

I think the main problem is that the 9.1 version seems to work quite well and only requires a few tweaks here and there (some tweaks bigger than others, but tweaks nonetheless), while the 10.0 version feels like starting from scratch all over again.

That, and the 10.0 version already exists more or less in the form of the F-ERC list. Why try to do the same list here while we have one that works?

My personal choices for a 9.2 version:

Special Rules

- Tyranid Swarms > reword as suggested by Hena.

- Relentless > +2 to Engage and either +1 or +2 to Rally rolls (I'd vote for +2).

- Expendable > perhaps something like this (the wording needs some work, but the idea is there):

All Brood creatures are considered expendable. Expendable units do not generate Blast markers when they are removed as casualties. This includes special effects which create Blast Markers when the unit is targeted.
Additionally, Common Brood creatures only count half of their casualties for the purposes of assault resolution (EA1.12.7). Uncommon Brood creatures' casualties are counted normally, however.

- No dangerous terrain tests for nids.

- Spawning is OK, althoug MoK's suggestion (or was is Jeridian ? I can't remember) of giving +1D3 instead -1D3 if there are enemy units nearby may be good.

- Remove the Flame Template rule and replace it with regular BP weapons.

- Tiebreaker calculation: please add one or more examples, just to clear things up.

ARMY LIST

- Only 1 Hierodule per Hierodule Cluster.

- +25 pts for the Hierophant, it feels a bit cheap right now.

- Hormagaunts : either keep the same price with 2xCC5+ attacks OR (my favorite choice) +25pts per Cluster with 2xCC5+ and First Strike. 3rd option : +25 pts with CC5+ and 1 extra attack with First Strike.

UNITS

- Tyranid Warriors get 20cm speed.

- Hormagaunts: see above.

- Lictors get Sniper instead of MW on their CC attacks.

- Units with Flame Template: replace with a BP weapon.

Has there been any suggestion made on the F-ERC malefactors troop carrying ability being integrated into TacComms? I love :wow:  :wow: the idea. Agree with most of Hojyn's points above though.

Keep the flame template though. I know I am in a minority here.

I have finally assembled a great gaming group and we are willing to try yhe tyranids, but we dislike the weird things of 9.x, like non-fixed formations and spawning(slowwww & complicated). We agree with most the stats though.

I agree most of Hojyn´s points, but my 5 cents:
- Make Gaunts disposable (or even fully disposable like grots), and 15cm movement. If spawning has to be kept, keep it only for gaunts or other disposable units(and meke it simpler, like necrons).
- Ork style list  :sulk: , fixed formations.
- Remove flame template, good idea!!!
- Coherence between movement rates of troops(synapses faster than troops, or viceversa  :sigh: ).
