Ah ok. The best way to determins whether you have correct numbers and pricing for a competitive force is to make up forces (that is what I find).
If there is an initial concern over numbers (as in not enough), you have to go back to the basics of an Epic game and that is Activations. Knowong that the more you put into a formation is going to cost you potentially more activations is the balancer, and so when you see a formation (below) with 21 models in it, it may seem like 'crikey!' however then you see it costs 600 points. Put that up against a Reaver and you start to say "maybe it is not so good actually". Against the right targets it might be good however it takes a wily general to outsmart an opponent to get this to work.
Example
- Assault Swarm (9 models)
- Gaunts (6 models - 3 of these being Gargoyles)
- Malefactors (6 models)
Most likely you will either see (if selecting an Assault Swarm) the base 200 point formation taken by itself, or maybe for 300 points, you will see 3 Warriors and 12 gaunts (15 models). In Epic terms (especially with Expendable), this is a big formation that will most likley get a +1 on combat resolution even before close combat starts. Put that into the context of Lictors + Genestealers who will be up in the face of the enemy, and with Mycetic Spores hitting the planet and you suddenly have a very worrying 'cavalry' coming up to finish the job others have started.
So I guess, I am happy with the numbers so far and would hesitate to increase them or offer options to do this. At this stage anyway.
