I've had 13 battles with them at CC3+ so far and it hasn't felt too drastic, they're still a threat. Compared to what I had them at in those games they're also gaining a FS firefight, a faster move and the ability to use cover saves.

I've played about 10 games with them at 2xcc4+ and they didn't feel overpowered. That's why I'm asking for a compromise of CC2+.

What exactly are they a threat to at CC3+? They're likely to get about 2 hits in, which makes them useless for anything other than artillery hunting.

With formations of 4 I've taken out support formations, supreme commanders, grabbed objectives and played ZoC tricks. With support and BM bonuses they're still useful. They shouldn't be able to run into big, unpreped formations and lay waste to them.

And nor will they be able to do that with CC2+

Like I said, we'll playtest it. The option is still there for 2+ but they're staying at 3+ for now.

I don't understand why you've been willing to meet me in the middle on so many stats, but are unwilling to budge on this one.

How about CC3+ Sniper?

I'm going by what I've seen in my games. They already have sniper on their CC.

Ok, I thought that was only on the extra attack before.

I guess we've no choice but to go with that for now, but I'm convinced you won't see them taken much.

Am I right in assuming that we're going to continue with 3-5 different lists being developed?

I thought that the point of putting in a new champion was to focus development on 2 lists (new & old), absorb any good ideas from the 5+ variant lists and then cease development on them?

That's not exactly the aim.

LOL, I was under the same impression as E&C but I guess that isn't the aim.

To me it seems that 2 of 5+ variant lists are just getting more priority or preference because there developers are now the "Nid AC's" which I thought/think is kinda not what the point was? I mean the Nid AC is to devlop a list (or 2 I guess) right? Not just pick up his variant and run with it? Oh well....I still don't like how the names of the First and Main three Hive fleets aren't being used. Enough with Off Topic ness.... ::)

Indeed.

I don't really see how the process is going to achieve any kind of new focus without shutting down the online development of the 3+ variant lists whose Champions did not get selected to steward the Tyranids.

Does it matter? If stats and special rules are set and become standard across the lists, who cares how many lists there are?

I don't think it'll make the task of balancing the lists particularly easy, if you're trying to balance 5 lists at once without a common baseline to work off of.

A year from now, once there are 1-2 base lists locked down and balance, sure, budding off variant lists sounds like an excellent idea.
