It was interesting game. But really limited nid formations caused nids to have many small formations and winning engages isn't easy with them (but hena won some due to his incredible unpenetrable 5+ armours) :D

Also that ini 1 caused nids to activate much easier and spawning became very powerful, especially artillery swarms spawns like rabbits.

Lets play again soon (next week?) with 8.2 and see how that works. :)

Interesting. Thanks for posting.

My existing unhappiness with dactylis is increased further after reading this report.

Thanks for the batrep, Hena!  Skimmers are still a thorn in the Tyranid side.  *laugh*

What is your unhappiness with Dactylis, Marckonz?  They're expensive and fragile and tough to spawn back... great when they work, but mine don't usually last that long.

The fact that they are so damn good!   :)  Able to be min-maxed and easily the equal or better of any artillery in the game.

In line with Jervis's comments, armies should be defined by what they cannot do as much as by what they can.  Powerful artillery just doesn't seem in line with tyranid character to me.

Maths is clearly not your strong point Hena old chap..

(4*75) + 100 = 450

Maybe we could say that initiative is 1+ but with a -1 on any swarm attempting to sustain fire..?

Just a thought...

In some cases yes. But, 75+75 = 150. So 4 * 75 = 300 (as in 150+150) and not 350 :confuse:?

I think he's implying that you need a synapse in there as well... so, the cheapest being a 100 point Hive Tyrant.

I'm new here so feel free to ignore everything I say, but in terms of the tyranid army I feel that with a lot of point expenditure and min/max that tyranids should be fairly potent in terms of artillery. This represents the heavy use of spore mines on the battlefield. The tyranids weakest area should be the middle group, with little power to stand toe-to-toe with a race like the Tau unless in close range.

Would both weakening and increasing the cost of the biovores make them redundant to dactyls and exocrine? They might cost more, but if they are two/three times as good at their role then why use the weaker biovore?

That said I highly enjoyed the battle report and can't wait to see more! :)
