Yep the list has the spelling incorrect.

Well, the Forge World site has them listed as "Mieotic Spore Sacks" in their catalogue... and "Aerial Spore Mines" in their pictures area.

So, who knows how it's supposed to be spelled!  *laugh*

Considering that the real word "meiotic" has little to do with spore mines... unless they really are some kind of reproductive organs, I think the FW designers were just trying to go with a "cool sounding" name.

However, Chroma's gone with 'support craft' for the spore mines, which prevents them entering CC at all.

I *really* don't want the Aerial Spore Mines to be highly multi-purposed, I want them to be a focused tool.

They are to represent high altitude spores.

Of course, with playtest this may change, but I'd rather they start "weak" and build up than start too strong and have to be pruned.

I personally like AA on dominatrix.

Who doesn't! ?:D ?

Warp blast isn't supposed to be AA though, so shouldn't be on this beastie either.

Well, it's the Dominatrix Warp Blast, so it's a bit tougher than just a simple Zoanthropes... and I like the image of the bug-zapper *zap* as a plane flies near Her...  :D

IIRC their website guy doesn't know how to spell quartermaster's either... that's been the spelling on the main page of their online store ever since they opened for business  :)

The spelling in IA:4 is 'Meiotic', and it's consistantly 'ei' throughout the entire book.

Agreed, and I have no objection to the use of the support craft rule.

@Markconz: Not really chasing over long distances.
The Thunerhawk came back after accomplishing a misson and flew back to the capital city. The city was swarmed by LOTS of Gargoyles which chased after the Thunderhawk the moment they had seen it. During this chase the Gargoyles slammed into the starting shuttle thus broke through its windshield and killing the pilot by impact alone.

My annoyance is the full BTS on synapse WE. Won't be taking them anymore, since BTS is already quite easy against Nids.

They still have to kill the WE to score any points towards BTS.

To me, it makes sense that killing the Dom would "break the spirit" of the Tyranids, so I like the way that works.

How does this make it easier for the enemy to score BTS?

If War Engines are worth "1" per full war engine, then in an army with a Dominatrix and 3 Assault Groups there's "10 points" of Synapse, so, the enemy has to kill 5 to get BTS.

With them counting "half" in that setup, there's "12 points" of Synapse, so the enemy has to kill 6.

And at "full value" there's "15 points" of Synapse so the enemy has to kill *8* Synapse creatures.  How is this easier to accomplish?  Just because the Dom is a "big target"?  So is any large War Engine, and they're often the BTS as well.  If the enemy puts a lot of focus on the Dom, they still have to take Her out to get anything out of Her for BTS, and that's not an easy task, Deathstrike Missiles notwithstanding.

Also that AA change prevents the usage of this list in a tournament I'm holding. I need to revert them to old system for the tournament.

How does this "prevent" the usage of the 7.4 list for the Tournament?  Just because it's new?  When is your tournament and do you have a "no lists newer than two weeks" rule or something?

Edit also without regen, the brood (7) might be rather cruel ?but not something that I wouldn't playtest.
I think one of the main complaints against Brood (6) for Hierodules is that a lone Warrior could pop one up "with ease" deep in enemy territory, "Where was that thing hiding?!" being the common incredulous response.

I'll correct it to Brood (7) when I next post it and that's the way it should be played.

Keep those eagle eyes open!

Thanks Chroma! ?:) I love this new version and most of the changes.

Thanks!  I've been having a lot of fun putting it together!

- Mindless (new ability on Mieotic Spores) : some French players have voiced their concerns about the possibility for a Tyranid player to unfairly claim/contest objectives by teleporting Synapse Nodes on turn 3. Why not give the Synapse Nodes the new Mindless ability to prevent such tactics?

I understand the concern over this "tactic", but has it ever actually come up in play?

Since the Lesser Nodes would have to come into play at the start of Turn 3, that leaves them vulnerable to attack for a whole turn, as they will have no Brood creatures whatsoever and are *EXTREMELY* vulnerable to assaults.

If they're teleported into cover, there's a 1-in-6 chance that they'll die on arrival, and if left out in the open, there's a good chance they'll be shot.

I agree, on paper, it looks like it could be a disturbing situation to deal with, but I'd really like to see some playtesting of it to see whether the issue is real, or just a paper Trygon.

- Hierodules still appear as Brood (6) in the .pdf
Yeah, they should be Brood (7)

- I don't really like AA Gargoyles. Even with Brood (2), this makes them even better than what they are now compared to the other brood creatures (faster, better FF, 6+ armour... and now AA as well).

Well, they cost more points, are more difficult to get back, and they still die like big flies.  Please playtest them, and we'll see what needs to be done.

- Mieotic Spores are nice, but do they really need Disrupt and MW? Surely Disrupt is enough.

The Spores are *very* dangerous to aircraft when they hit... which is rarely, *laugh*, but changes may be made after playtesting.

Does the Warp Blast still need AA with AA Gargoyles and/or AA Spores in the list?
Only the War Engine Warp Blasts have AA, though I might drop it from the Hydraphant in the future.

Thanks for the input!

Noticed that there was no comment about spawn values on killing tyrant or warriors from Nexus group... That is something that must be there (or the cost must be raised back to 200 points).

Well, I put a "Design Note" in there to explain why I haven't put a "reduction" in there.

Honestly, I feel the "Nexus Group" should be the most common Synapse Group in play.  Why should it "degrade" when other groups don't when they lose units?  Perhaps its spawn value should be d3+1 and it should just be there to help "mixed" broods.

Edit: And you've re-written teardrop template use once more.

I believe I just condensed it instead of having so many "steps" for its use.

More comments to come.

Both Warriors & Tyrant/Warrior Synapse groups should degrade as they suffer losses.

Meiotic - another one of those strange choices of terms:
meiotic - sexual division of cells
mitotic - non-sexual division of cells

Perhaps a joke about them looking like giant sperm or something? ???  :D

Exocrine:
Exocrine glands are glands that secrete their products into ducts (duct glands). They are the counterparts to endocrine glands, which secrete their products directly into the bloodstream (ductless glands).
