1) I agree that no TK to AVs.

Yeah  :D

2) Agree that there should be one.

Double yeah, I don't mind which should be the FF beastie, but I thought that the malefactor had the big curve claws covered in spines

3) With 15 move, they can be garrisoned.

Which is a good thing.  I see our bio artillery as massive things that just sit there shooting every now and then.  Back in ye olde days I'm sure they had "nest" as a response to not being in synpase range.  They wouldn't move but could shoot.

At the moment the Dactylis can garrison, but the exocrine can't, which is a bit unfair.  :( , since I prefer the exocrine (Though that might change now they have lost their MW).  Also a drop in speed to 10cm, could result ina price drop.  Since they will be very hard to redeploy, and will stop them from being swarm support. (Sticking one or two of them in a brood swarm to help place BMs on the way in).

Malefactor (50 pts)
- Speed 20cm / 5+ RA / CC 5+ / FF 3+
- Claws /Base Contact / +1 attacks
- Spine banks (small arms) +1 FF attack.

Dactylis (75 pts)
- Speed 15cm / 5+ / CC 6+ / FF 5+

Exocrine (75 pts)
- Speed 15cm / 4+ / CC 5+ / FF 5+

- Big Claws /Base Contact /MW /CC weapon +1 attacks

Carnifex: Screamer-Killer (35 pts)
- Speed 15cm / Armour 3+ / CC 4+ / FF 6+
- Big Claws /Base Contact /MW /CC weapon +1 attacks

Carnifex: Venomspitter (35 pts)
- Speed 15cm / Armour 3+ / CC 4+ / FF 5+
- Twin-Linked Venom Cannon /30cm /AP4+ AT6+
- Notes: Fearless

Changes:

- Exocrine changes back to FF5+
- Exocrine down to 15cm speed

- Malefactor changes to FF3+
- Malefactor changes from MW+2 CC to +1 CC.
- Malefactor gains a second FF attack.
- Malefactor changes from 4+ RA to 5+ RA.

Thus in accordance with ragnarok's template we have:

    Haruspex

- Engagement Firefight.
    Malefactor.

- Long range fire.
    Exocrine and Dactylis.

- Brood support.
    Both carnifexes.

Haruspex (50 pts)
- Speed 20cm / 4+ RA / CC 3+ / FF 5+
- Large Claws /Base Contact /CC weapon /+2 EA, MW

This looks fine to me, though why no Acid Spray?

Malefactor (50 pts)
- Speed 20cm / 5+ RA / CC 4+ / FF 4+
- Spine banks / 20cm / 2x AP3+/AT6+ / -
------------------AND
-------------- / (15cm) / small arms / +2 EA

If you're giving it a 20cm ranged ability, 3 CC & 3 FF attacks, this beastie looks a little overpowered.

Sorry I misread it, not sure how though, heh.

Note I downgraded CC 2 at 5+ -> 1 at 4+ and changed FF from 2 at 3+ to 3 at 4+.

Aye that you did, it looks fine to me now I'm not in such a hurry. :)

As a FF beast, 5+RA or 3+ would be more appropriate than 4+RA (The same as a Warlord Titan!)

Aye but there were save modifiers back then no?

I think, for the cost, the stats you've posted look about right.

I have been reading the threads and bounicing ideas/playtesting them with my local group, so I haven't been ignoring everyone, nice work E+C it is looking good.

Right now I am going to run the present update with my own ideas thus far and then pick the best of the two for posting.

Some Quick Thoughts......

I don't see the Malefactor as an FF beast, well at least not with those two big claws on the model anyways :O
Might want to trade the the Haruspex stats for the Malefactor and vise-versa.

We are working on 'specializing' the AVs and WEs into one kind of beast (Local Group).

We want to change the Bio-Cannon into an AP light/AT good weapon while keeping the rest of the Tyranid ranged weapons the exact opposite. (Again just something we are messing with right now).

Thanks All..........................................

Jaldon :p

The problem with that is it's completely against the current background & cannon rules, where the Bio-Cannon is a S10 AP3 weapon... definitely Infantry heavy, AT medium!

I'd be 100% against making it inferior at killing infantry.

Heck, with its range (48") and S it is one of the best anti tank weapons in 40K.  The only weapon that beats it in range and equals its fire power is the tau's rail gun (range 72").  If it hits it has a 50% chance of doing something to a land raider (I might actually get one).

I also think that it was developed to take down enemy ordnance capable vehicles and turrets at range, so that the scythed heirodule could survive long enough to get into combat.

Aye it's good versus tanks, but truly a horror against infantry!

A Large blast template S10 AP3 weapon? With either two shots or a re-roll to hit? That's Infantry's nightmare.

I think the stats we have currently are a good representation of the Bio-Cannon.

I would not be adverse to this.
