Quote (nealhunt @ 08 Mar. 2006 (14:20)) | He was really loaded for taking out AT (LRs, Termies are even AP/AT shooting and, obviously, MW in assault). ?I think if he hadn't had so many points tied up on LRs, it could have been a lot more competitive. | Well, I believe he thought he might be facing Necrons, so that's a bit of AT. Dropping the Land Raiders would've snagged him 2 more Terminator formations, with characters, and a character for the one formation that didn't have one... still not sure how well that would've done.
This evening I'm hoping to bring the Terror up against Necrons... we'll see if the Monoliths have enough juice to kill them all! *laugh*

Chroma, great batrep. That is a scary army, certainly has got everyone thinking how they would deal with it.
Clearly the Land Raiders did not matchup well to the TT (Termagant Terror) army. With hindsight (which obviously your opponrnt could not benefit from, it being a proper "blind" game) I think I would have tried swapping the LRs for a Reaver and Scouts. It would have been more difficult to shift the Reaver off his blitz and the scouts would have been useful as either a speed bump or to run away lots and try to contest an objective at end of turn 3.

It's so obvious CW, just use 5 Tau Tigersharks. They can conquer anything.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Great batrep!

Honda, well since you brought it up... if one were to abuse the aircraft sniping to the extreme you could almost guarantee killing 5 TWs every turn. So thats turn 1 2 swarms dead, turn 2 4 now dead, turn 3 6 swarms dead.
Though without sniping it is clearly not a good matchup for the 5 Aces. But then the TT list is quite obviously another extreme list, i.e. exactly not what would make a good test for another extreme list like the 5 Aces.
A great deal of these problems are due to activation advantage. You can't break the Nids to prevent them activating so when they get a large number of activations (in this case through maxing out on 2 TW synapse groups), it creates additional problems for balance. In a similar way the 5 Aces are only vulnerable to AA, so are harder to remove than ground units, thus keeping an activation advantage.
Which is why Chroma's test here is extremely useful for the Nid development. It tests the extreme use of the new 2 TW synapse group.
