Suggestion: Keep the 1/2 gaunt, but round kills up. In that way, it is the 1st, 3rd etc kill that counts. It becomes more of a bonus rather than a perceived unfair advantage. In large assaults, the result would be the same. In smaller assaults, the enemy still gains 1 or 2 kills.

Our intention when suggesting it was this! You'd still get +1 for killing 1 Gaunt. Mathematically it's correct too, you total up dead Gaunts, divide by 2, round to whole number.
3 dead- 1.5=2.
1 dead- 0.5=1.

It just got lost in translation.

Just to let everyone know, I *am* reading all this... and will be commenting later.

Rounding up, at the least, will be in the next version.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I second most of what Fredmans said, especially concerning players feeling "cheated" about certain things (which leaves the Tyranid player feeling apologetic) and for stats vs looks of mini. The Trygon is indeed disapointing and the Haruspex a little too powerful.

But I notice, Fredmans, that you 'justified' the Harridans 2 MW attacks by saying it has 'claws' - you mean the little shrivelled 'Tyranosarus' type arms it has?

And I would be happier with a 'round up' 1/2 gaunts rule.

Wanted the one with salt but couldn't find it.

Is that because GW tells you that they have shrivelled arms?

I use my claw as the tail or teeth. Also the sheer weight, wings and flight down could be a crushing attack. Things in epic are not always literal..

I think people need to get past such discussions. Why is the Harridan too good? Is it a points thing? If so, what points should it be?

When writing long posts, I tend to leave out smileys as they on some forums count as pictures, and add them afterwards. As this was a *very* long post, I forgot about it.

I think the_real_chris and Gary Larson says it all.

Frogbear, I was refering to Fredmans' statement that a mini should do what it 'looks like' (which I generally agree with, as I said). My Harridan 'shrivelled arms' statement was a dig at Fredmans defence of the Harridan 'looks-wise' (apologies to George Orwell for the -wise suffix).  :;):

But more seriously I do think it is overpowered as it has huge amounts of utility (skimmer/transporter), plus 6 attacks! (2 MW), plus DC, etc... etc... for the bargain price of 175pts. Its practically a no-brainer purchase, imo. I agree with its utility, but its actual power should be toned down to compensate.

The much nicer true scale epic FW Harridan has claws that are around 3cm long and look definitely worthy of being MW (it's 12cm long in all with a wingspan of 10cm or so). I think the stats should more be based on the newer current model which is properly scaled :) It's long OOP but a certain forum member can help

Jup the claws are pretty big:

But so they justify TWO extra attacks?

Perhaps a single macro attack would be a reasonable compromise.

If it is too powerful at the current points, I would prefer the points adjusted rather than the attacks (although I am happy for it to stay exactly as it is to tell you the truth).

It is an independant and it is not really going to have any other titans covering it when it advances. It is a real strategic element in a force, but is highly susceptible to air support. One may suggest gargoyles, however from the forces I have made, the points are better spent elsewhere and I find I always take it as a rogue flier.

It does have it's weaknesses and the 2MW attacks can only work if it allows the opposition to use their CC factor. Yes, you have to choose your battles, and the move on the harridan helps alot, however there is always overwatch, and then there is the possibility of being outnumbered and so forth in combat.

The 2 ranged attacks are also not game changing, and act as a harrying tactic which is exactly the purpose this miniature plays IMO.

I think the problem is that we are really not seeing such miniatures used in games against anything other than marines...

I'm a bit out of touch witht he nids but I used to use the flying synapse and Harridans as a long range mass strike force.
