Attack groups are remarkably resilient when surrounded by 10+ common broods and when they keep to cover. ESPECIALLY when they keep to cover.

I'll vouch for that.

Problem for Marshall to Tyranids is that they cannot assault in it. Most common brood swarms don't really have weapons so they cannot then fire either for any effect as if you marshall, you are going to be suppressed with few units having weapons.

You can also move on a Marshal, perhaps to support a different assault, you don't have to shoot.

Attack swarm is an easy solution due to too tough Tyrant. I could see myself just starting to use them to cut points and get more toughness to synapses.

That's kind of the point of the Hive Tyrant, "he" is supposed to be the toughest "general" Synapse creature out there.

I must be missing something. I wasn't aware any units could assault when they Marshall.

I thought all armies were supposed to have a weakness. Having fewer options when Marshalling seems like a perfectly good trade off for being so effective in assaults.

Tyranids are not that effective in assault anymore (at least with common broods).

Having been on the receiving end only yesterday, they seem fine to me. I guess you'll have to get a Tyranid player's point of view from Dave

I definitely don't find Warrior led common brood creatures a weak formation, I usually have 4-6 of them. It's true the 'nids are weaker in assault with the new special rules but I think they are costed pretty accurately now. My armies are usually very heavy in the common brood department (usually 36 Termagants and 36 Hormagaunts) and I don't find I'm being hammered so long as I keep to cover and minimize the amount of fire I take.

I've played 7 games with them with Jaldon's revisions. I have lost more than half of my games (5 I think) but they were always close. If I could point to one thing that's causing me to loose the games it's my inability to close with the enemy in the first turn. A cheap Supreme Commander option would help with this (SC upgrade for Tyrant or Harridan) or having the +1 to March again would do it to.

Interstingly a formation of 3+ Tyranid Warriors (each 5 warriors strong) exists in Apocalypse Reload.
It is called "Eye of the Hive".
The formations has a special psychic power which gives all Tyranids in 12" Arch-Enemy (enabales them to hit their opponents easier in CC)and are considered to be under the power of the Catalyst psychic power (= can strike back in CC even if they are killed but are then removed anyway) .

Looks like Inspiring to me :D
