Okay, if you haven't read the last few battles of the Red Queen Rising campaign, you probably shouldn't be in this thread... as there will be spoilers! ?*laugh*

Okay, so The Red Queen (I'll stop doing that now) has survived and narrowly been victorious. ?So, what should the "Final Battle" be? ?I hadn't really expect the Tyranids to win, so I hadn't really thought hard on a Tyranid Triumphant tack... the Imperial Victory game would have been easy to do... "The Queen's Last Hunt" or something, to ensure that She was dead.

The lads and I have bandied about some ideas, but nothing has gelled yet... "Defend the Space Port" as troops and supplies are lifted off. ?A "Last Stand" as the Imperials left on the planet are eventually overwhelmed. ?Or even a "Rescue the Commander!" as Imperial forces try to recover a crashed flyer or something.

So, what would *you*, the Readers, like to see?

How about 'Defend the Com Tower' as the planet reports full failure and calls for exterminatus to stop the 'nids before it's too late. The last few Imperial defenders committing themselves to the Emperor before readying the battle lines against the 'nid push. If the 'nids can knock out the com tower, surely they'll escape the world to cause havoc and terror across the segmentum. Should the com tower get its message off, nearby starships will proceed to bomb the planet, destroying the remaining 'nids and stopping them from spreading to other worlds.

Think of it as a chance for a pyrrhic victory for the Imperials or a crushing defeat depending.

Well, since we've just seen the Red Queen break into the city, what about a cityfight game, with a twist...

The Imperial player will have a spaceport, lots of 'civilian' formations, and groups of Valkyries / Arvus Lighters / Marauder Transporters / Thunderhawks...

The game will basically be the Imperial player, with a very few units of real military forces, pulling as many of his civilian forces as possible to safety (The spaceport), whilst the Red Queen feasts!


What Naval forces are present?

I can't remember if Strike Cruisers can carry out Exterminatus, and most Navy ships don't routinely carry Exterminatus weaponry... so unless there's a Battle Barge present, or a particularly bloodthirsty Navy commander who always keeps some spare Virus weaponry in the armoury, perhaps the Red Queen will be able to call upon Her Hive Fleet assets and devour the planet (Presumably the skies are filled with Tyranid ships by this point) then escape to eat again!

Its a pity that this universe doesn't support Skylifts as I could see the final last stand being head around this along the same lines as E&C has suggested, just that nothing flys due to the density of spores and the lift is the last resort. I would even allow armoured units to drive through civilian stands in their attempts to get off the planet.

A 'Last Stand' style battle, with a rearguard trying to hold on long enough for the navigators to request the Exterminatus, akin to what was already suggested above by Ilushia.

Seems like this is the kind of thing we'll be doing, still haven't finalized details yet... holiday season has turned out more busy than expected!  *laugh*
