1. See here http://www.tacticalwargames.net/cgi-bin....y215104

2. Yes. Except that shooting ability is more rare in Tyranid list than others, so suppression is that much more effective.

4. Would you had been happier with assault from Hierophant than :D. (Refering to the battle report that I need to post, will post it completely within few hours.)

5. Ah, ok. Misunderstood ... That might work.

1. Now I got your point. How about all instictive models are killed if losing engage if not fearless. That limits stupid marches. :)
2.for now nid artillery is more effective than IG. (exept lack of range) they got optimized unit sizes, engage support, meat shield units, disrupt...
4. that would be demise of my night spinners (as it shoud have...)
5.they are just ideas, without any testing behind...

@BL. do you mean extra +1, like inspiring? nids have outnumbering bonus quite often already.

@E&C Limited? really? Nids usually tend to do more kills with shooting than with engages

Yes quite like Inspiring but not on top of outnumbering. Under this rule Tyranids allways get outnumbering bonus reardless if they are exactly or even fewer in number than the opponent. Note they don't get the outnumbering bonus twice, the next +1 bonus only comes if they double outnumber them (double the number of tyranid units than opponents formation).

I play infantry-heavy, I admit.

We should be simplifying the already very bloated rules, not adding extra stipulations.

I know. It was only brainstorming. I don't expect that it would be included ;) But it would be a simple to remember rule.

Ripper Swarms
Tyranids are allways accompanied by large swarms of Ripper creatures. Because of this in assaults tyranids allways receive the +1 modificator on the assault resolution roll for outnumbering the enemy formation.

I think I may save that for a Phase V: Consumption Tyranid list!

Phase V list:

Tyranids get 5x the normal ammount of points.

Enemy gets 50% of the normal ammount of points.

Tyranids may spawn 50 units worth every turn. :)

I think fixed spawning isn't the effect we should be going for.  Tyanids are meant to be biological creatures, and biological creatures don't reproduce and multiply at fixed rates.  Considering you're not making a rally role and are making spawning roles instead, random spawning isn't adding a whole lot of additional roles.

On the reducing of FF, I'd say no further.  5+ is accurate to the 40k stats if anything.  They aren't Orks and 'nid weapons are very nasty.

And again, I'm with hena on the instinctive thing.  Blast markers after a unit becomes instinctive is very counter intuitive considering instinctive is the 'nid "broken" status.

The FF of the Tyranids is fine. Orks have more *dakkadakkaBOOOM* but they tent to hit nothing important with it while Tyranid shooting weapons may be few but they go *SPLATfizzzzzle* and tend to hit where they are aimed to.
