Hi, I have decided to go ahead with a Gothic Painting competition. The post to the Gothic Yahoo Group was:

This competition will be split over both my web site (www.epic40k.co.uk - soon to move to a more appropriate address!) and Warp Rift magazine. There are three issues which I need to sort out, but I thought that I would announce as quickly as possible in the hope that people could get painting and we could get as many entries as possible into this. Entries would be emailed to me directly (pictures no bigger than 640x480), and compiled into a specific gallery on my site. A selection would also be presented in Warp Rift magazine.

The three issue for consideration are:

Categories - Right now, I am steeering towards a single category, which would consist of a single ship in all cases, except:
- If the vessel is a Light Cruiser or equivalent, then one or two ships in the squadron.
- If you are painting Escorts (or equivalent) then a squadron should consist of between three and five vessels.

I may also add a 'conversion prize'. This is something that we are running in the Epic Competition. Basically, there is no category or criteria for it, but a select group of judges will award a single prize for the 'best' conversion.

The whole aim of this is promote painting and converting.

Prizes - Anyone got any ideas about this? I am only a humble
individual, without the resources of Fanatic. Also, past experience has taught me that there can be a 'delay' in prizes from Fanatic, even when they are kind enough to provide them. So, I would like suggestions for unofficial prizes. Right now, I am simply considering getting a couple of vessels ordered from GW and delivered direct to the winner. I did this for the first ever competition on my site, and it works quite well and allows the winner to select their prize. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Voting - This will be run in two places. Voting would occur both on this list, and on the forums of my site. Yes, it is then possible for people to vote twice, but that possibility is open to everyone and so should not unbalance things.

Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me know, either here or via email.

While I am here, can I also say that I am looking for more artwork and graphics for Warp Rift, so if anyone has anything fantastic or can put something together, it really would be greatfully received. Just let me know if you think that you can do this and I will credit you in every issue that we use your stuff.

Any comments are welcomed.

My comments:
1 - whopeeee! :D  :D  :D  :D
2 - categories - I think your suggestion should work ok - simple, but effective for BFG. Conversions - yum!
Sigh - no idea about prizes - I have very little BFG stuff, but could help out if we set up a fund or something to get prizes.

Oops - sorry, this was a double post. I can just add a huzzah here. ?:D

Ok, let's put this double to good use:

First of all: Great idea! Should be fun! I agreee there's no real need for a whole bunch of categories. Keep things nice and simple (also less prizes are needed! :p :;): )

As for graphix for Warp Rift: You are welcom to use the stuff I've been tinkering with for my BFG pages:

I could put someting new together later on if you want.

Cheers! :)
