Well, that time almost upon us, and so my thoughts turn to voting for this competition. What method do people think is best:
Voting done here - this would keep it all 'in house' and is already set up for this. I have an idea for categories with lots of entries involving semi finals, etc. But, this would also mean that only people registered here would be able to vote, which may limit numbers a little.
Seperate voting program - I could put together a different scheme, similar to the battle stats program (or ruthlessly hacked from this program ). This would open up the voting to as many people as wanted to, but people would be able to vote a number of times.
Combination polls - We could hijack the Gothic lists as well as this place, and use the voting on all the places and combine them. This would mean that most of the web-based Epic community would be able to vote, and while people would get a number of votes they could only vote once at each place (so a vote here, one on the Epic Yahoo group list, etc). The number of votes could then be combined to give a winner.
What do you all think, and are there any other suggestions?
Thanks.

The original concept was to do it here (and get you LOTs of hits!) but we dodnt really make a Decision.
If you are good with the technogabble of it here then thats where I think it should stay

I am just new to these boards, I didn't even know they existed to be honest and because of this I don't really know a lot about your'e procedures but I think the voting should be kept in-house as such.
After the voting is over I will be promoting this site as much as possible through word of mouth. I am doing this after the voting because I have entered a couple of pics and I think it would be possibly seen as unfair if I manage to recruit some people to these boards who then may vote for my pics.
Anyway I love these boards and I love the Epic game.

OK. Thanks to Tas for closing and organising this so well. The threads and the competition are now closed. I will update the Gallery, and try to get the prize preference list confirmed in full.
Once this is complete (so that we have all the entries together and we are all clear on the prize preferences), Tas will set up the voting to take place here on the boards. On that note, the more people voting the better idea of general opinions we can get. So, tell your friends.

That sounds a good idea.
On another note I sent the pics to the comp address as I couldnt seem to attach the pics and get a successful 'add reply' to the relevant comp threads so I hope thats ok. The emails seemed quite big to me. Doug

The 2 main reasons I set up the comp was (a) to see some cool models, and (b) to promote this Forum which I think is the best around for any wargame. To that end:
Tell your friends about the site Get them registered Get them voting Try and win yourself some nice prizes courtesy of our sponsors
Good Luck!

So... at the risk of sounding silly, how do we vote?

Nope, not silly. Tas will put up some polls in due course (as soon as I get the time to make a final update to the gallery). Then voting will happen in this section in new threads.

Right, the voting will start today.
There will be two rounds. The first will only contain the Single Unit, Single Titan and Battleforce categories. This will be a semi-final round.
The second will contain the winners of the first round, along with the other two categories. So...
First Round Starts: 18th November 2003 Ends: 9th December 2003, 13:30 (GMT) Single Unit: Seven heats of six entries each. Single Titan: Seven heats of three entries each. Battleforce: Four heats of three categories each. Only the top entry of each heat will go through to the second round. In the event of a tie, both (all) entries proceed to the second round.
Second Round Starts: 10th December 2003 Ends: 31st December 2003, 13:30 (GMT) Single Unit, Single Titan and Battleforce - Only the winners of each heat go throught to this round. Terrain and Open Category - All entries go through to this round.
I have probably given more time than is strictly necessary for voting, but this is intentional. I want to promote this as much as we can. Tas will be away for a while and it would be good if he is around for the conclusion. Also, ending on the last day of 2003 seems almost poetic.
Good luck to all the competitors.
In addition, I will respectfully ask all members of these boards not to discuss the running and position of the various entries in the competition. You only get to see the results either after you have voted, or by forfeiting your vote completely. While the results will change in time, it would keep things interesting for people not to know who is winning, etc before they vote.
Mods: Please feel free to censor any posts contining reference to ... is winning/needs votes/doesnt stand a chance/etc. Thanks.

The first round of voting has begun!
Yes, I am aware of the error in the Single Unit, heat b and heat c descriptions. I cant change the text in these so they will have to stay.
Also, I have unpinned the entry threads. These will slowly drop down the boards and dissapear. They should be around for at least 90 days, but since the pictures are all archived they should also no longer be necessary.

See above!
Basically, there are two types of category. The ones that we are voting on now have more than 9 or ten entries, and so we cant fit them all on a single poll. The other two categories have few enough categories that we can sort out the winner in a single round. Instead of just running these to end earlier, or for twice as long, I decided to do it this way.
The way that it is now, we will sort out the finalists for the three categories already opened. Then we will have a single poll for each category, all ending at the same time.
Does this make sense?
