Post subject:  EpiComp 2018 Rules

The rules for participating are below, if you have questions please post them here.

Dates

Barring the first one, all of these are subject to change (and likely will).

  • Entry Submission Begins - 0000 UT, October 1, 2018
  • Entry Submission Ends - 2359 UT, December 30, 2018
  • Voting - 1200 UT, Januray 2, 2019 (or whenever I have a chance to post)
  • End of Voting - 2359 UT, Januray 9, 2019

Categories

For the purposes of these categories, Epic models include models from any 6mm sci-fi manufacturer, 6mm conversions or supposed "8mm" sci-fi models ;D. EpiComp respects the IP and copyright of all manufacturers and reserves the right to exclude any entry we feel is unsuitable (PM me if you have questions on this).

  • Best Single Model - Any single Epic vehicle, aircraft or stand of troops.
  • Best War Engine - Any single Epic war engine (titan, super-heavy tank/aircraft, etc.).
  • Best Formation - Nine or more Epic war engines, vehicles, aircraft or stands of troops (Epic war engines count as three each towards this count).
  • Best Battleforce - Three or more formations as described in the Best Formation category (27 units, effectively).
  • Dark Realm Miniatures - Any model(s) from Dark Realm Miniatures.
  • Exodus Wars - Any model(s) from HLS Models.
  • Microworld Games - Any model(s) from Microworld Games.
  • Vanguard Miniatures - Any model(s) from Vanguard Miniatures.
  • Open - One of the following:
    • A diorama
    • A terrain piece
    • 6mm fantasy

Entering

You do not have to be a member of these boards to enter (you do to vote however). Just e-mail your entry to epicompetitions [at] gmail [dot] com.

Please include the following:

  • Your name, and TacComm member name if applicable
  • A 1600x1200px image of your entry in .jpg format
  • The title for the image
  • The category that you wish to enter the image in

Entries should be models that you've completed during the past year and not previously entered in an EpiComp competition. Entries already posted here or elsewhere on the internet can still be entered.

Voting

Voting will take place on these boards, so you'll have to be a member here in order to vote. I'll break down each category into heats and the winners of each heat will go onto the final for a second round of voting.

Prizes

The prizes for the categories will be announced as I get them. If you're thinking about donating something please PM me! EpiComp relies on the community's support and the great manufacturers who make our models for prizes!

One prize will be awarded to the winner of each category. Any winner will be awarded a maximum of one prize. If an entrant wins two categories they'll be able to choose the prize from either category. The prize from the other category will be awarded to the second-place entry in that category.

  • Best Single Model -
  • Best War Engine -
  • Best Formation -
  • Best Battleforce -
  • Dark Realm Miniatures - £50 to DRM from Doug
  • Exodus Wars - £25 to HLS Models from Dale
  • Microworld Games - $40 to MWG from Steve.
  • Vanguard Miniatures - 15% off a VM order from John
  • Open -

Hopefully Adeptus Titanicus models are ok? Strictly speaking they're not 6mm scale but I'll be using them in Epic alongside my Epic models and many other people will too.

I suspect we'd get way more entities if the competition were advertised on the AT FB page and such.

I don't see a reason to exclude AT18, it's still Epic.

Excellent :)

Can you make a small edit to the rules text above to state Adeptus Titanicus models are allowed? At the moment it just talks of Epic and 6mm models which could be read to mean they aren't allowed. I'll do some promotion of the competition elsewhere once you fix this.

How about adding a 3mm category in there, or just accepting 3mm miniatures in the other categories?

We've allowed 3mm in the past. They fit into MWG and VM categories no problem now.

The only 'legal' model I have in my queue is not going to be finished in time, unfortunately. :( EpiComp somehow needs to be opened up for fanware to survive IMO. 5 years since GW stopped supporting Epic, and 10+ since fanware has been relevant / popular..

The problem you have is the rule of cool, folks often score points in the minds of everyone by having a nifty model that is not available to everyone which means it's a non level playing field

Personally I'd like to see fanware allowed in the open category or its own specific category

Post subject:  Re: EpiComp 2018 Rules

I would submit something, but I've literally only just finished my first (and only) miniature in the past two and a bit years of absence due to crippling injury, so you can imagine how good it actually is...

On forumware/unique stuff, I'm with Kyuss in thinking it should have it's own "open" catchall category.
