Any thoughts/discussion for EpiComp this year? Last years rules are here: viewtopic.php?f=19&t=23750 Thoughts on entry methods (all at once/trickle in, anonymous/not)? Categories restraints? Models being entered in more than one category? Other things? Volunteers to advertise on other forums or on the street with sandwich boards? |

Picasa takes care of most of that for me. The hope was to eventually have all the gallery's up on this site with the new software, not sure how far CS got with that this year though. |

I'm happy to spread the word on Warseer, heck even the pendraken site might get some interested parties.... |

I liked the categories from 2011 myself, while the standard was pretty high overall last year, there weren't as many entries I also like the manufacturer-specific categories, however I'm beginning to feel that with GW canning SG and mini production, it's not fair to the likes of EW and DRM that they have 'sideline' categories when they're actively involved in promoting the scene and are continuing to support and produce new kit, I'd like to see them take their fair share of centre stage as we're all going to be relying on them more and more in future! I can also see that the competition is going to change considerably in the next few years, so we should probably work with that in mind that said I may well enter some GW stuff this year, but I promise next year I'll be spamming the EW and DRM categories as I have big plans in those directions.... Will also spread the word around the Epic-UK guys and see if they are willing to push it at tournaments and such, there are loads of great armies turning up to tournaments at the moment, many of whom aren't regulars here... |

I'd argue that the separate categories call attention to the other manufactures ranges, rather than sideline them. If we had more entries for them, I'd definitely split them up into single unit, WE, battleforce. The numbers aren't there yet though. |

Will certain OOP fan produced models be allowed or barred again this year? I was told they were barred last year (and this may have been one reason you had less entries) but in practice several winning entries were such models or contained parts from them. |

That's up to CS. I would like to allow them but it's his name on the forum bills. |

Entirely fair enough, it is his forum. Might it be worth you asking what his opinion is on it for this year? |

Also what about scratchbuilds? I'm planning some defilers but they'll be a mix of gzg and EW parts....what sort of category will they end up in? |

The Mekboy one ![]() I had an entry barred last year. I was OK with it and I even recommended Dave and CS to consider whether it was appropriate or not. I agree that it somehow should be made clear before entries are submitted, however. As for GW dropping out of 6mm, I think an "Epic" category would do well to cover aforementioned scratchbuilds and keep it within the 40K universe. I agree that other manufacturers should have their own categories, if only to direct attention to them. Hopefully, entries for them will be higher and higher. I really should paint some myself, but real-life painting makes my wife happier. For the in-betweeners, let the submitter choose what entry to opt for. /Fredmans /Fredmans |

I suppose the open category is the best fit ![]() |

I have recently completed this years GothiComp version. The plan is to put this years EpiComp on this site, and start moving previous galleries across working backwards from there. GlynG wrote: Entirely fair enough, it is his forum. Might it be worth you asking what his opinion is on it for this year? We have no issue with third party stuff being used. However, any miniatures which are both being sold and which infringe the IP of another company cannot be allowed. If you make stuff for yourself then this will be acceptable this year. As a rule, anything where someone has made cash of IP they dont own continues not to be allowed. This does mean that it relies heavily on the integrity of the person submitting, as we are not able to check all miniatures in all pictures, but we do reserve the right to withdraw miniatures which break this rule, both before the submission deadline and after. |
