Looking good CS. ![]() I think some further clarification regarding the artwork category may be needed. Trouble is that the possibilities in various computer programs are virtually limitless. The rules say "no photoshopping" but I think this needs to be explained further: 1: Are you allowed to use photographs of miniatures, environments etc. in some form? (ie. can you add a sky as a dramatic backdrop for your painting). Advanced 3d programs can generate stuff that'd look virtually indestinguishable from photos so it'd be difficult to judge this... 2: Various filters and techniques would mean that you could make images that look like "real artwork" but are still basically photoshopped photos. 3: Collages: One of many art styles. Being composite in nature this could violate the "one image only" rule. Personally I love graphic styles such as pencil sketches placed in colage environments made from photographs. Not sure how that'd work in a 40k related universe but it is more the principle of the matter I'm curious about here. 4: Animations: Admittedly not very likely, but what if someone want's to do a small animation. Though it'd have to be a very short one it is technically possible to make a very small animation at 75 kb. I think most people will know what kind of artwork you have in mind for this category, but unfortunately the sheer volume of media options available makes this a somewhat tricky category to define. I don't know if it is practically possible to say "this graphic style is allowed, and this one is not". |

Hey C/S, good to see you've got a conversion category, but is it correct that only entrants in the first 3 categories are able to enter, e.g. someone couldn't just make a specific conversion and enter it in this category without submitting it first as a single unit, war engine, or Battleforce? Then only reason I ask, the conversion I would submit would actually be a terrain piece... ![]() Thanks for your time! ![]() |

Thanks for your comments. Warmaster Nice - Your comments are valid. I have changed the original regulations to attempt to strengthen the art category. I dont think that we will ever define the idea exactly, so I have asked artists to contact me about any questions. firestorm - I am afraid that only entries into the stated categoried are elligable for the conversion prize. I am sorry, but there will be no terrain or open categories this time around. I will open up the submission threads shortly. |
