Hi guys. With the GothiComp07 drawing to a close, my schedule shows that next month traditionally marks the start of EpiComp.

So, first question, is there sufficient interest? This would be the fifth annual Epic Painting Competition, which is quite a milestone.

If run, this would run in the same way as last years competition - three categories, voted on by the community here. This means again the drop of the terrain and open category, since I dont feel that they contributed a lot in the past, and require additional prizes from somewhere.

If there is significant request for these categories to be reintroduced, and we can find an additional prize, I would vote for combining them into a single open/terrain category.

Second question: Are there any kind hearted individuals here who are able and willing to donate a prize for a category this year?

Third question: Any comments about things that should be changed (if this goes ahead) from last year, or general comments on how it is run?

To start this off, I can offer the following as a prize from one category - see picture.

Please note that this is not a perfect specimen, and is how it came to me from eBay. It has been painted and stripped, so would need to painted a dark final colour to disguise any patches of remaining dark paint, will need a little filling where it has warped a little, and the top turret has the legs from a Marine in it! ?:p ?That said, these things are rare and go for quite a lot on eBay, so should provide a centre-piece for the winners Epic forces.

Well, I'll be inflicting the competition with a weird entry, as usual :)

I should be able to make an appearance this time too, rather than my usual lurking and gasping in awe at the quality of entries!

After seeing the works of Onyx and Firestorm I think a Terrain category would be a great addition.  If anything maybe it would get Sytoru to finish the command center :).

I'm definitely up for this; I only failed to enter GothicComp because I was working on EpicComp entries!
I might be able to offer a prize or two for the competition, as well.
Regards,
Reaver

I'll probably throw in an entry or two. :)

Also I'll have a rummage through my bitz box and see if I can find a suitable prize as well.

The terrain category could be interesting since a lot of people have been building some high quality terain lately. It might be worthwhile to hear if DRM or EW would be willing to donate a few prizes to this year's comp... :;):

Speaking of which: I can't remember the rules from last years' competitions but can non GW minis be submitted. Of course I'm thinking about EW nd DRM stuff here...as long as it is painted to fit the 40k universe of course :;):

I would be interested for sure - although I am currently 'prized out' after the Raiders art competition. :O

I'd second allowing Plan D and Plan E miniatures into the comp.  They're just so good.

If people are against it though I'd suggest they be allowed in the open competition at the very least.

Since I have never entered a competition here, I would love a chance to at least try, so yes I would like to see this happen.

The competition has always been open to include miniatures from any manufacturer and at any scale. All that is required is that it is given a nominal Epic clasification as an entry. This about the players, not the makers.
