Just picked up a big bunch of these from Vanguard, they look great, but what on earth do you assemble them with? My usual plastic cement (Limonene) which works fine on other plastic figures doesn't work on these?
Don't want to use super glue as that will frost them.

Any ideas?

That was a dilemma I found too I ended up useing plastic weld brushed around the joints.

Hmm what's "plastic weld" John?

I thought they were acrylic pieces, so small amounts of cyanoacrylate glue (standard superglue) would be required (with the frosting issue) and styrene cement (plastic glue) would be ineffectual.

Perhaps epoxy would give a non-frosted join? I would be interested in what people use for non-frosting adhesives. Maybe PVA? I do have some UV-set epoxy that seems to not leave frosting, too.

The 'plastic weld' I found upon a brief search is epoxy (though I didn't think epoxy actually 'welded' anything, hence why it works on wood and plastics together :P).

I think John was referring to this:

I see Litko recommends this, which looks to be similar though not great reviews:

A NZ type.

I'd use the kind of glue used to attach canopies to model air planes; it's available pretty much anywhere that sells those kits ..

Hi Markconz,

I have pile of these and I just used super Glue...and they have done well, after heavy use... ;D

I also just super glued mine. About 1 in 5 got some very minor frosting, the rest were totally fine (and I wasn't very careful about applying the glue either)

2 part epoxy will dry clear if you're worried about the frosting. I never had a problem with super glue on these though (same material):

Use the thin stuff (not the gap filling) and make sure it doesn't go everyone on them. That will frost them.

+1 for super glue as well. Just a touch of it and didn't have any issues at all. Probably have a couple dozen.

Yes sir the EMA stuff, welds plastic together and the excess evaporates.

Alright thanks everyone, I eventually found an equivalent in a NZ model shop a couple of blocks from my work. An American brand 'Plastruct Plastic Weld'.

Nasty stuff wtih all sorts of warnings on it, but does the business well and melts the acrylic together!

Glad to see that they have that stuff back in stock.
Used it for most of my plastic scratch builds.
Couldn't get it the last time I needed to replace.
