Coming very soon another joint effort by vanguard and troublemaker we have a new bases mould.

These will be 40mm x 12mm

Definitely useful. The round bases looks nice, but my OrksSkinnerz and Marines really like their strip bases...

So, from a technical persepective, why did you go with the x shaped sprue? That seems a tad inefficient to a layperson like myself but I'm sure you have good reasons.

It gives us flexibility down the line for further tooling that uses some of the same rig, saving tooling costs for subsequent moulds. It's also good for flow distribution.

The circle bases mould also uses an X configuration.

The bases won't actually be supplied from the factory on the sprue. The sprue wastage gets ground up and recycled into more bases (and sprues, that then get ground up...).

I have been checking the various website and manufacturers who make strip bases or sell old GW strip bases like Craftworld games (very expensive and not always in stock).

HLS with their 160 bases for £19.95 works out at AU 0.22 per base or AU35.00 for 160 (roughly works out to AU$44.00 for 200 bases).

Another local manufacturer who sells his bases at AU$0.50 per base works out to AU$80.00 for the 160 bases - AU$100.00 for 200 bases.
It is more expensive to make my own from plasticard (and they look crappy).

Vanguard comes out ahead at £4.50 for 50 bases. This works out to AU$0.16 per base or AUI$33.00 for 200 bases. It is cheaper to buy 200 bases from you than 160 from HLS, as postage is basically the same.

Win, Win. Now I just need to find somewhere that has cheap enough 20 x 20mm bases for my Talos, reaver jetbikes, sentinels, robots, etc.
