Any luck on having a US distributor(s)?

You could look into Noble Knight. They are a US outlet for Alternative Armies and several other UK companies among hundreds of others, and I’ve had nothing but good experiences with their service.

Guys the issue is not finding a stockist I've had plenty of interest, its the shipping costs to the USA that is the problem.

US shipping fees are insane its costing anything from £25 to £30 or more to ship a small less than 2 kilogram parcel these days, shipping over dozens of kilos is just not viable especially factoring in the need to offer a good trade discount level as well.

The only viable option is US licensed manufacture with vanguard taking a percentage cut of all sales, if you can find a company interested in that and trustworthy beyond repute let me know.

The new Imperius Dominatus ruleset and community site has a document on there suggesting Vanguard miniatures to use as proxies in that game.

Have you had any thought of offering 'starter army' sets or anything similar for their game?
Or any other relationship with that community, it looks like it's growing really quickly at the moment (although it does feel like more and more people have heard of Vanguard!)

The problem with game specific armies is that you end up needing to be able to offer similar sets for many different sets of rules, because obviously not everyone is playing the same game but might feel they should have the same opportunity to get armies for the version of the game they play. This means tying up a great deal of stock in the hopes players of particular games are wanting to buy your stuff in sufficient quantities to justify the expense of creating such sets in the first place.

For us small companies its just not viable to do so.

Primarch has always done his best to promote vanguard on his various pages and I am most grateful to him for doing so.

Ha, i just logged in to post a similar thought!

I was thinking about the question going around the Historical community at the moment about how to attract new players etc and i think it applies to 6mm/Epic etc too

There does seem to be a wave of nostalgia at the moment bringing back lots of lapsed players back for a look, but holding on to them, or creating new ones is a harder prospect.

One of the things noted by the Historical gamers is that the lack of an 'off the shelf' complete product is daunting for new players, having to find rules, work out what they need to get started then source models creates a bit of a barrier.

I feel like as awesome as Imperious Dominatus is, with it's polished rule book and website (and the game it's self which i played a bit early in development). It's unlikely in my mind to be able to pull someone in 'off the street' who doesn't already have some 2nd edition or 30k experience.

Something that also occurred to me was the amount of 'starter sets' i have bought over the years, which i've dipped my toe in for a relative low cost and i've either embraced or stopped there.

Most recently the new Flames of War and Team Yankee sets look incredible for £35!

Having a collaboration between Imperious Dominatus and Vanguard to supply say a 1000 point 'starter force' of Novan Elites (or 2000 points that could be split in two armies or combined) would likely benefit both parties in getting their products out there.

I don't even think a big/any discount would be required, but it could be enough of an incentive to lower the barrier for entry by taking on that initial army build?

I realise that there are 3mm rules for the Vanguard line, and possibly other reasons not to do it, but just chucking in my 2p.

Cheers

My question here in response to this idea would be, ok everyone how many of you Imperious Dominatus players here actually use my miniatures for your armies?

And if so could you perhaps provide some guidance on potential starter forces you would recommend?

Re-stock of the Siege Artillery soon?

And I noticed that some guns of the Grudd (Onslaught) are no longer on the webpage...

The Siege field arty should be back in stock before xmas.

As onslaught items sell out I remove them from public view and the stock management system until such times as I get more stock in. Talking of onslaught stock I will not be re-ordering from onslaught until we are well into the new year, I want to see how Brexit effects sales overall before committing large sums of cash to importing stock.

i like the idea of the starter army but MD brings up and excellent point, too many rules sets use the vanguard range. Given that, I do believe that doing a starter army for NETEA might not be a bad idea. it is not only the largest epic community but its also the one that's easiest to introduce to new players. I could see doing it as a bundle much like how microworld and pendraken do there army packs. Simply just take prexisiting shop and create a bare bones army(maybe about 1000 points) throw in some bases and your good to go. Now I do make that seem a lot easier than it is, but if it can be done I don't think it would be a bad idea.

I have found the biggest time factor drain on collecting a new army is locating the right proxy miniatures with the unit on the list. Having the right “pre written shopping list “already compiled together as a stock item online would make it easier. One click, I’m sure I have the right starter company etc. Doesn’t have to mention any Trade Marks or copyrighted names. If you look at the base level of the space marine army there are patterns on the formations of the transports and troops. That pattern could be used to build a base starter kit item.

I can see John’s point around stock control however that you have to keep some stock aside as that grouping, which means transferring those items over to the starter kit bundle - meaning they can’t be sold in there base stock item,.

Okay so why not just have a starter kit stock item that lists the components of the starter kit (with links), But the SMS (stock management):
1) takes all items as separate purchases from the base stock items and puts them in the cart or
2) allows the person to add each item one at a time to the cart from the list (not ideal but at least we get a shopping list for a starter kit).

All this is dependent on the shopping cart and SMS setup.

Getting a list of what’s in then starter kit is something we should do. John is way too busy making cool stuff!
