Wasn't so much a preference - just looking for a cost saving. If mdf can be obtained in 1mm thickness that's also an option (just make sure +Psypher+ ventilates his cutting room well ! :-) )

Magnetic is also a really good idea.

Btw : 40x15mm sounds like a really good size. Not sure if I'm sold on the chevron shape, but supplying 6 hole rectangular bases sounds good. As does 3 and 4 hole - if it doesn't become a stock nightmare!

I'd love magnetic actually! But I'm hoping for 40x20mm wide as that's what my historical figures are based on.

As for the 3 or 4 holes, surely you could just use a 6 hole base and fill the other holes? Hell, if there's room I'd almost like to see as many as 7 or 8 holes so that there's plenty of variety between bases without having to have multiple base designs.

Hi, 2mm thickness is the minimum for MDF/HDF otherwise you've got to go down the route of ply etc.

I've got some magnetic sheet already to use on a top secret project I'm involved in :) I might have a mess around and see how it goes with the plastic bases :)

The 40x15mm bases are my favourite choice for upcoming armies Ive got ready to paint. I'm just plugging unwanted holes with the small circular cutouts that fall into the cutters scrap tray, saves messing about with filler :) Although I do have drawings already done for bases with various hole patterns and variations in the number of holes per base.

It may be a good idea to run a poll on sizes/shapes etc that people may want supplying?

A poll would be a good idea for bases we need to make a list of potential designs and then get votes on them to see what should be produced next.

+psypher+ will you do this or should I? You could put some pics up of your designs which will help customers to decide on what they may like the look of.

I'm sure there would be a market for magnetic bases.

How about for the bottom sheet you have an option for flexible magnetic sheeting, giving you a magnetic bases option. They are great for transport as your models stick fast to a magnetic sheet, metal box or whatever. I currently mount my models on steel washers and transport them on magnetic sheeting, but it is pretty unforgiving when you drop a base on a hard floor. Especially when there are irreplaceable old plastics mounted on them.

Plus with magnetic bases you can play games on the fridge door, close to cold beverages (hic). :D

I have custom made 6mm magnetic bases in the past, and i can tell you once you have them you probably won't want any of your bases to go without it. This is definitely a great business idea.

For cheap people, just buy a thin magnetic sheet from Amazon or somewhere. The sheets that are used to make fridge magnets in fact! Get your base that you just bought from Vanguard, and make your base magnetic!

All orders to date have been processed and dispatched. I will soon be taking a break for the holidays but the site will still be able to take orders which I will attend to as soon as I return. The email account will still be monitored so if you have any questions I will try to answer them in a timely fashion.

During January I should have a re-stock of Onslaught and Troublemaker minis arriving and i will be putting the Battlescene Designs MDF buildings up on the site. We also hope to have more base designs coming out shortly too so look out for those and the round plastic bases should be back in stock within a few weeks time.

I’d just like to wish all my customers and their families a very happy christmas holiday and a prosperous new year, your support has been wonderful and I can’t thank you all enough.

Once again thank you everyone regards, John

I've used magnetic sheet for the Epic and Warmaster I've made so far and it's a pretty good storage solution.

Just wanted to voice my agreement with a 40x15mm magnetic base with precut holes. I think it should be a 5 hole base otherwise you end up with the same problem of crowding the base as the GW bases has.

I know that everyone has their own specific requests but IMO a slight rounding of the corners help preserve the base corners and looks nicer. Nothing like FoW perhaps just a 3mm rounding of the corners. Personally I would snap 150 of such suckers up right away.

Infantry storage is an intractable problem for me. I use a standard GW carry case to house my tanks (1x super-heavy or land raider / 2 x Basilisiks, Bombard or Manticore / 3 x Leman Russ / 4 x Rhino per slot) but it's just super impractical to use for infantry stands. Magnetic bases sound like just the ticket and, since I have very little infantry actually painted and based, I could definitely go for this in a big way.

Might also be worth a trip to poundland getting a shed load of cheap bits boxes, glueing a thin magnetic metal sheet to the bottom and selling them as epic IG infantry regimental barracks. I'd be lazy/interested enough to buy a few for sure.
