Another two things-
Any plans to add the forgeworld heavy tanks. The Crassus in particular makes sense but I believe forgeworld may have made Macharius and Malcador tanks for Epic as well.
The other thing the Leman Russ Assault Company has a regular Russ HQ surely a formation of specialist tans should have a Specialist HQ personally I reckon just swapping the Russ HQ for a Vanquisher should work fine.

Hi!

I would plan to add to Platinum anything like these as well.

On a side note, I am studying for a re-certification exam I will take this summer. I will be a little slow in response and pushing forward in the revision, but I will try to dedicate a few hours each week to this. :)

Hi chaps,

I had a couple of questions regarding Storm Troopers. The first being the stats for them, but have found them already at the start of this thread :)

The second question is this:

Can Storm Troopers be take as support for *any* company in the IG list or only in support of a Storm Trooper Company? It does state that 'Any Imperial Guard army may include a Storm Trooper company.'....'Storm Trooper support cards may only be picked for a Storm Trooper company'.

I would have thought that the idea of Storm Troopers would be small close knit shock troop squads or body guards (similar to SAS / SBS / SEAL's / Spetsnaz) used to attack and secure objectives in support of main ground forces or used to protect valuable/vulnerable troops (HQ units etc) or vehicles...

The idea of allowing any Company one support squad of Storm Troopers would be a more flexible approach and in keeping with the type of troop they are supposed to represent. Of course, there is the argument that the IG army is so vast in size they could afford to have full companies of such troops. I just thought it strange that why would a company of Storm Troopers want the support of even more Storm Troopers?? :)

It's an option in the book to have higher morale support cards of certain units to represent Stormtrooper crewed tanks.

Hi all - really great conversation and some good changes suggested. particularly like the options on transports.

A few thing I wanted to put forward are -
- Hydras needs to be in the list!
- Missing the warlord special card
- Rule tweaks for the different guard regiments - this is a whole discussion in itself but hit and run for Tallarn inf/cav/sentinels and other things that might be interesting - +1 morale for Mordian iron guard, +1 cc (in woods?) for Catachans. Maybe specific lists like space marines for different regiments with some unique rules.
- Better rules for (guard and all?) tunnelers... maybe less scatter when targeting an objective? Overall I have struggled to use tunnelers. When every turn counts scattering to mean troops have to charge 2 turns to get where u wanted them means I would never use them. If I had an option to take assault or heavy troops in tunnelers why would I take them if it meant being stuck where u don't need them. Can we find a way to make them more viable overall - taking assault troops and being able to assault the turn you arrive? or too OP?
- Allow units to fire from chimeras? for example troop stands, psykers etc to shoot from them whilst in transit if ont he right orders?

A few thoughts for starters:)

Hi!

The omissions have been pointed out and are on my list of things to fix.

As for the tunnelers, we are working on a "platinum" version of net epic that will have a different army construction method, so mounting assaults and heavy weapons in a tunneler becomes feasible.

There are balance issues with reducing scatter on them however. Although perhaps reducing the scatter to 1 d6 if a forward observer is involved might be a good compromise.

Letting units fire while mounted has been debated before, but has some balance issues associated, unless only "character models" can do it?

Most tunnellers come with a transport which acts as a spotter and it reduces the scatter to D6x5cm, but even then that could be to far.
I would be tempted to make the scatter similar to Teleporting, try to keep everything in the realms of 2D6cm. Maybe have a normal 2d6 scatter if any of the transports can see the target location and scatter twice (ala deep strike) if the transport can not see the target (or has been destroyed).
Troops mounted in Tunnellers can assault the turn they arrive, you can give them different orders to their transport, so can charge out and into combat.

Like Primarch said, we will be re-working the army lists and I suspect guard will benefit more than others with all the transport options for all their different troops.

Firing while mounted is something we just might have to forgo at this scale to avoid rules overload.
In 40k it is a viable tactic to mount 3/4 heavy/special weapon troops in transports and have them driving round shooting from them while sitting in an armoured box, but in epic, transports are pretty much just there to get your men over the battlefield quickly. In epic you also have to remember that heavy weapons can move and fire, with transports they can move 50/60cm and then be deployed to fire.

Thanks for the feedback. Think I had interpreted tunneler rules wrong but will try them with the lower scatter and feedback.

Question about the Capital Imperialis.

It's rules state: "It can transport two full companies of any type, including vehicle companies (but not those that include other praetorians)." What about Super Heavies? Can it hold Super Heavy Vehicles? [For reference, see adeptusmilitaris.pdf page 23.]

Hi!

I would say yes. Companies of "any type" would include them. They only thing it can't carry is another praetorian.

Noted. Means their cost (for Transport) goes up a bit.
