Hi Tom,
I did a little bit of work and worked out a fix for the banner problem. Attached is a fixed version of the 3col_leftNav.css file (at least it works for me ).

The issue is that if you do that it jumps to the bottom of the page when the image is too large. This also happens when you omit the width command. I'd rather people saw some obscured news text than people saw a blank screen.
What does everyone else think? I've changed the settings, do people prefer it this way or the old way?

BTW: There is a hit counter on there too now, it's only page impressions but it'll do for now .

Ah, you didn't make all of the changes that I made... You need to specify a min-width for body element as well. The body min-width needs to be at least sum of all the other column widths plus padding and margins. I would also specify a min-width for the link and news columns, but I don't think this is entirely necessary.

No problem. I have struggled with layout problems under so many different scenarios and environments that my bag of tricks is difficult to carry around now.
You might want to tweak the widths a bit for the two outer columns and the overall page width.
