The Carvers will have masks - and mutations.

First one that I dont really like. Too manga / Anime like. Pose is good but the cleaver looks too big. Actually the whole presence of the figure bugs me.. Something in my brain echos " pokemon" when I look at it.. So I will stop looking :P

But... Thats first one that I dont like so that can be forgiven :p

Wonderful model very characterful although i'd probably down size the chopper a bit.

Well, like lead space, the whole rest of Strygians is awesome.

This model is, for me, too manga-like for me: I saw for this model a more armoured one. The legs are great, but it's the chest...

I'm a little surprised that the "style" of the mini is throwing some off. I'm not going for manga - but I can see how it looks that way. The "chunky" hair and other simplistic details are modeled in a way to show up at scale, but does come across as cartoony when presented this large. In actuality, we're dealing with this:

Yup, its better in actual size I know, but the cleaver is silly even then. Almost the size of the figure and wielded by one hand. But as we know, this is not about realism :) just my thoughts!

Looks brilliant at scale.

I think people too easily forget that we're still talking 6mm minis here...

The final poses may help with this - its meant to be a two-handed cleaver, capable of splitting a man in two with relative ease. Hopefully the actual poses will get the proper "weight" across. That said, I may tone it down a bit.

Well, personnaly, it's the naked chest that for me make it very manga-like... the weapon is just very cool, in my opinion...

In fact: line infantry of strygian is in full armour. The first close combat troops were lightly armoured, it was very interesting. The bike troops are full armoured, and daemons are lightly armoured, so are daemons in all minds...

But for me, butchers were a heavy close combat troops. That's why i'm a bit suprised to see them naked... what give them a manga-like style, for me. Perhaps there is an other elite close combat troops to be prepared, but I thaught it was them, as the last elite troop is a rifle troop. i'm wrong?

yes - the Phantom Guard are heavily armored close combat troops, armed with large blades which incorporate firearms.

Basically, the closer the Stygian are to their demonic queen, the more they rely more on their dark arts for protection rather than conventional armor. The Slayers and Butchers are zealots on their way to demonhood - the Succubi and and Carvers are already there.

Demonic queen sounds interesting, hope we are going to get a figure for this one too.

Ok...
I thought Butchers would be the last close combat troops....so my opinion, right now with this kind explanations that an other heavy troop will be talentually created is: great, great, great! ;D ;D ;D

Not the queen herself, but her massive and terrifying hand-maidens, yes. ;) That's for a future wave.

It's not being wielded in with one hand, it's just being held in one hand. Dude is posing in a pin-up pic, that's all.
