I love the way your line is becoming its own universe, but i don't see why having its own background ought to imply a new ruleset. There are quite enough rulesets around that are not seeing much use already. fan lists for an existing ruleset would be quite enough, and I don't even see why deacon should necessarily make it himself if that's not his thing.

I'm pretty sure I can oblige you on this sometime in 1Q '14. ;)

I was wondering if there are plans for a counterpoint to the Stygians. if the Stygians are from a realm of darkness, a counterincursion from a suitably angelic realm of light would be pretty great

You speak of the Protogen - they are a bit of a ways off yet...

Just for the record, by unique IP I mean a unique universe/fluff/units. I'm a longtime Dirtside player, a recent E:A convert, and don't plan on picking up new rulesets. But for both legal and creative freedom reasons, I think Deacon's absolutely on the right track creating cool new minis that are cool in their own right, rather than trying to be something else.

I totally get what you are saying. I can't speak to the legal issues (I'm a lawyer but not that kind), but as for creative IP stuff...I just want proxies for another game I play. That's it. Other companies have unique IP 6mm stuff that I don't buy. Why? Because in most cases they don't correlate to the game I want to play. Maybe it doesn't sound glamorous to fill the proxy niche, but it's a niche that clearly needs filling. I'd prefer Onslaught to stick with that until their lines are complete (by which I mean that there are proxies for everything I'd want to build an army), and then after that, by all means, make creative stuff that others might be interested in.

I enjoy designing rule sets, it's fun for me, just like modeling and making minis. If I make a set of rules that works, I plan on sharing them with everyone for free. So there really isn't a down side here.

That was pretty much all I was hoping for. If you find a ruleset that works for you, great. If not, I was planning on continuing to use the current ruleset I play with. I suppose my original intention was to simply state that having your own fluff allows you to expand to other creative models, which you are technically already doing. Which kind of makes this post redundant. :) My only request really was that you remember "core" units (and by core I mean most in demand proxies) first before moving on to new armies. So yeah, there really is no need to force anything rules-wise. I have every intention of lapping up all the proxies I can get. :)

Merry Christmas!

I'm all for original IP (the Onslaughtverse is great!). If you actually want to make a ruleset, go for it!

I'm happy playing the current game I play and only ever interested in buying models that made good proxies for that e.g. the Stygians. Personally I don't have any interest in a new ruleset or completely new different models/races. Each to their own and whatever Deacon prefers for his projects, but just putting my perspective in.

I'm keeping an open mind. If it turns out to be better than the alternatives I may very well switch systems in the future.

I'm unlikely to switch systems unless its significantly better, good enough to defray the loss of investment in the current one.

as an aside, I was disappointed to notice that the 15% discount doesn't apply to the packs of 9 tanks, only to the packs of 3. I was looking at making a sizable order, but determined that I couldnt really afford to do so with my current finances. If I dropped the tanks from the order as there is no direct incentive to buy them now compared to the infantry, the total discount was such that paying postage twice (a small $17 postage now, and a $62 postage later when I can afford the tanks) largely negated the discounts at all. Ended up as saving $7 If I spent $170 now and waited to buy the tanks in a month or so, rather than just waiting and buying the tanks later.
Given that I'd inevitably then still make a third order for the rest of my OTC (and maybe stygian) needs and no doubt spend another $62 postage in the process. there works out even with the discount to be pretty much no incentive to buy now.

Alas, as I was kinda fired up to try and paint up some tanks, but I am clearly better off waiting till I can make a single huge order. Perhaps I am doomed to be one of the people who never quite fits in with your various discounts

the point of which is not to complain about the discounting (though if the 15% did apply to tank bundles it'd skew the discount sufficiently to make it pretty likely to be worthwhile purchasing as much as I can afford immediately. likewise, if they applied to gift cards, I'd likely buy a chunk of those and wait till I could afford the rest of the order to use them) but rather to show evidence that finishing out lines will definitely encourage purchasing. I can make a functioning OTC tank force without light vehicles and aircraft (I have aircraft, and am currently looking at the Dark Realm heavy drones to act as light vehicles in the interim, and then perhaps some sort of infantry afterwards) but if I'm going to be buying them anyway, I'm better off waiting to do so. Especially as there's a need for a heavy command vehicle that I'm currently lacking good options for.

As much as I want to see new stuff, forsaken and the like, rounding out the current lines (OTC and Stygians being the two I'm most interested in as well as the ones I objectively expect to have the biggest markets, though I'd want Avian heavy weapon crew beasts asap too) seems like it should be a pretty high priority.

I'm interesed in both a new universe and ruleset.

It will be difficult to find a better system than Epic Armageddon but I'm always interested to see what could be do elsewhere. In addition, I'm pretty sure that it is good for the 6mm market to have multiple good battle systems.

And if the Onslaught system is not good enough for me, I would be very interested in adapting the universe to Epic Armageddon. The Onslaught miniature have their own personnality, it would be a pity to use them only as count as. ;)
