Wellspring, you're my type of sicko! :D

Actually eloquently stated, as always. Right now it looks ugly, but not eldritch horrifying. I'm serious here, strip them and get all matrix tubes, syringes and other violations of their bodies to really strike home just how evil they are.

In addition, I think he's hit upon a secondary cannon fodder unit that would be awesome to add: The shrunken zombie like remnant ghouls of prior victims (think The Scream by Munch) that are herded ahead of the stygians to cause fear and panic in their victims, so the better they taste when harvests occur >:D

Funny you should say that - the next Stygian wave will feature "Parasite Husks" which are basically shrivelled up zombies.

You rock!

I should hasten to add that the concept you have is a great one... just not for a parasite engine. Instead, I see it as someone either fanatically sacrificing themselves / undergoing apotheosis to merge with the ultimate combat monster. Like one of those butchers writ large.

I see it as a daemon engine that uses captives life force to sustain it's systems, the victims soul is slowly leached from their body with new victims constantly being required to maintain optimum combat systems otherwise the daemon lapses back in to dormancy.

Just my take on the thing.

Work is progressing on the Stygian Parasite (there's some obvious stand-in shapes present):

I would strongly recommend re-sizing the entire arms and claws at least 1/3 smaller in all dimensions (or increase all the rest 1/3 in size, whichever). They're WAY too big proportionally compared to the body. Stygians should look sleek and deadly, chunky oversized claws like that detracts rather than helping and are more reminiscent of greenskins.

I think it might look better (and be more gruesome) if the pilot were permanently wired in to the machine and only the upper body (or parts of it) were visible or left, with wires, syringes on the end of tentacles, ect going in where the legs would be. If you do end up keeping the full pilot body it would look better with the legs curving backwards into the machine not falling straight down.

Ummm - OK, I was just informed that another company has a unit called the "Parasite Engine". Thanks for bringing that to my attention!

OK, so I'm dropping the "Engine" from the name, so now it's just the "Stygian Parasite".

May I suggest Stygian PAIN parasite ?

Hmm,

I was just wondering, how far does the symbiosis between victim and machine go? As I understand the Parasite is powered by feeding off of the soul of whichever poor sod is currently embedded into the machine. But the machine itself is probably not a sentient beeing, but rather a robotic creature with limited artificial intelligence. So the question is - does it also use the intellect of its victim turning it into a near sentient being? Because then - it really matters what type of victim it chooces to "merge" with. Good strong warrior type victims, makes for efficient Parasite engines on the other hand strong warriors might somtimes be able to break the bonds, making the parasite a tad bit unpredictable.

Well just some food for thought...

So I'm pretty sure this has already been asked, however I can't seem to remember the answer, but were you considering creating some light vehicles for OTC?

I asked for light vehicles, Large-rigs ;) and flyers and Don informed that they would be after these Stygians. :)

Wave 8 withh feature additional OTC units including scouting vehicles, Larger Battle Rigs, and flying units. I'll probably throw in some Tzacol units also.
