Never! But I might push the Barong to wave three - depends on interest of course.

Here's the current revision. I changed the hat to make it more "techy" and domed, rather than pointed. I also made the armored pads more rounded, and removed the lower, front pad and replaced it with a loin cloth. Also made some stylistic changes to the sonic rifle.

I like the way it looks at actual size quite a bit - reads well imo.

Thaoughts?

Before Terra collapsed into the hell that was the "Great Rectification", the mega corporation that was known as the Okami Conglomerate constructed 3 massive star ships known as the "Arks" with the purpose of escaping the inevitable collapse of human civilization. Passengers were chosen from the best and brightest of mankind - highly skilled artisans and craftsmen, renowned professors and scientists, philosophers and free thinkers were hand picked to create a new society on Gliese 667 - an earth-like planet in a distant solar system. The trip would take them over 30 years to complete.

As the Arks prepared to embark on the voyage that would save the last vestiges of civil human society, the launch sites were savagely attacked by those who would be left behind to their fate - doomed to die under the yoke of oppressive regimes. One of the Arks was overrun as its pilots attempted to lift off - the marauders killing every man woman and child on board as they methodically searched every deck for what they called "The Chosen". Another Ark exploded spectacularly moments after it left the Earth, infiltrated by maniacal suicide bombers.

The third Ark successfully escaped the Earth, and it's occupants managed to overcome the marauders who had invaded their ship. As its pilots activated the Arks Hyper Drives, mushroom blooms of nuclear explosions began to spring up across the globe...

What exactly happened to these exiles remains a mystery. Five hundred years to the day after their escape from Terra, massive ships appeared in orbit over the Earth - they were unlike anything the Terrans had ever seen, having lost the knowledge of the exiles and even space travel long before. After observing the war-torn wasteland that was Terra in silence for some weeks, the ships blinked back out of existence, leaving no explanation to the savage Terrans below.

Terrans did eventually relearn the secrets of space travel, though it was through dealings with the Merchant Guilds of the Grud - some decades before the arrival of the endless hordes of the Legion. Since then, the Terrans have come into conflict multiple times with their long lost brethren, who came to be known as the Okami Technocracy Combine. Little is known about the "OTC", aside from the fact that they employ highly advanced technology, and harbor deep resentment towards native Terran and their Grud allies.

Neo Ashigaru make up the bulk of Combine forces when fighting planet-based battles. These soldiers are highly trained, and make use of technologically advanced gear in battle such as localised kinetic energy dampener fields, multi-spectrum visual displays, and focused sonic energy weapons.

They left us miniature makers to die too! I can sympathize with the marauders!

They're very nice! And I liked the short story. I think they're sufficiently different from the exodus wars miniatures to have a market of their own.

cheers

I really like these, I can't put my finger on why but they're appealing to me, however would you consider perhaps adding a magazine or bulking it up if there's one there? It looks great blown up but at actual scale it looks a little odd without.

They could still go alongside the EW figs as elite heavy infantry or such.

Let me experiment - I wanted to leave them off, to convey that these are energy weapons, with no real ammunition. But maybe it would look cool with them.

You gotta store energy somewhere. Imperial Guard these guys aren't, but I think the idea of essentially replacing the mag with a high capacity rechargable battery has merit. You could certainly argue that the batteries are in the stock though.

That was the intention, and the "no-mag" look resembles the muskets the actual Ashigaru used, which I find appealing.

Here's some more test models for the OTC:

Clockwise from upper left - Attack Drone, Attack Drone Rear, Support Drone, Defense Drone.

The inf are cool, but I'd struggle to take those drones seriously – they look far too happy.
