I think part of what is making it look so anime like is the hair and... Skirt, both of which make him look very Japanese. When I first say him, the very first thing I thought was "samurai". I think that, combined with the very large weapon is what is making it look anime-ish for so many people.

I'm loving him by the way, looks awesome.

I like a masked option as well even though I cannot think of any good reason for one in a mouthless figure except as armor or to look menacing (but the whole naked torso thing kind of argues the point).

I've been gone for a few days and look at the page count.

The first I thought of was Final Fantasy 8 or 9 or 10, its one of those.

Okay, very very happy with one shoulder pad. Ties to the line, still has the epic badass effect.

Yup, its better in actual size I know, but the cleaver is silly even then. Almost the size of the figure and wielded by one hand. But as we know, this is not about realism :) just my thoughts!

It's not being wielded in with one hand, it's just being held in one hand. Dude is posing in a pin-up pic, that's all.

Stupid me again.. :) didnt think of that.

Doesn't deacon always show us the dudes in a neutral pose first? I'm guessing the final minis will swing those cleavers around in all directions.

Mine too! Hurray!

I think 'guy with a cleaver' looks very good. Take a look a the IG Commissars or the entire Warmaster line if you don't think oversized weapons have been done before.

What about doing something like this with the sword?

Maybe even curling the tip into a point even more?

I'd like to see the blade a little more curved and with the hand guard removed this should add more flow/movement to the pose of the minis.

I vote yes on the cleaver as is.

An angular block of shadowmetal like that looks simple and brutal. I think if you make it more curvy, then its size no longer looks intimidating, it just looks out of scale.

I also like the current look very much, please leave the armour on the arm. I also like the "butcher-blade".
