Here's what I've got cookin' now:

Added some details that are still sharp enough to show at scale.

I took away the traditional scope, and added a simple camera sight. The thought here is that the image is simply relayed into the snipers helm display. Surely they have wireless routers in the far future right? :)

I think this rifle is much more effective. Thoughts?

The guns remind of of these:

What do I think about them? Well, I agree with Emil!

Significant improvement imo Much more in keeping with the range.. The mag still looks a bit crude but at 6mm who's gonna see it? :)

Must say, still think they need a bi-pod or some kinda anti grav recoil damper/stabilize thingy so they look like they could actualy aim them with any accuracy...

I think I'd like it a bit shorter actually, I mean not reaching as far down the gun.

I think you've nailed it deac I reckon those look lovely!

The Slimmer barrel and the longer jacket and the silencer vents are perfect I reckon I'm wondering if the stock might need a little something if I had to be critical but its certainly passable as is.

I was wondering about a bipod or a tripod as Blip says they currently look a little unrealistic for accurate fire.

You may be right about the tripod, but having that little bit hanging down would be a nightmare for casting. Not to mention it would have to be super fat to make it somewhat sturdy.

I think I'll stick with this design and move on to the spotters.

Deacon, are those sniper rifles supposed to be sonic weapons as well? I thought I'd bring it up since your Ashigaru have sonic weapons without detachable magazines. I may have missed something about it between that point and now.

Nah, I wanted these dudes to have solid ammunition with super-penetrating rounds.

here's a group shot with a couple of spotters - I gave them handheld range finder computers and small communication relays on their helms:
