Free shipping can have quite a powerful effect on buying behaviour, as JTG alluded to. That is, you're more likely to place an order rather than wait for other stuff to be "needed". I'd set your qualifying minimum as low as you can tho, as you don't want to have an incentive that encourages the reverse effect (i.e. people wait until they "need" enough stuff to get free shipping - which may be never).

I wouldn't worry too much about free international shipping, people don't really expect that IMO. You could offer it with a high order value I suppose.

In other news, I just placed my order from SCP yesterday. They don't have the army deals or 9 packs of tanks on but even so there wasn't much difference in price in the end for the 22 blisters I ordered (plus no customs fees of course).

I'm not sure about this as i am not in one of those European countries with stuff taxes on imported goods, for those countries would it not be better to get cheaper miniatures over shipping since you take a hit on the price of the items?

In the UK, sometimes it is fine, sometimes not. Import duty isn't usually payable on things of this nature, but VAT usually is. So, if the sender declares the actual value on the package you're probably going to have to pay the VAT (20%) plus a handling fee (£8), and it will take longer. If it's declared at less than £36 AND marked as a "gift" then it''ll probably be fine.

Import duty and VAT is very hit and miss. I have ordered magic the gathering cards from all over the world for the last 8 years and sometimes you pay, sometimes you don't. Amusingly I have had to pay more times for the smaller sporadic £20-30 orders than the larger £500 orders I do every 4 months.

If it's a tossup between free local shipping or army deals, it doesnt really matter to me which is which, as I can't really use either. I'll just have to buy all my Onslaught figures from Steel Crown, at a slightly higher cost per figure, but with free international shipping, making them cheaper overall

Yes discussing this with another New Zealand gamer today we came to the same conclusion, as noted here:

Well done, Mr Deacon. I'm very happy that you started thi ones: I'm a big fan of the work you did on this army.

I have few coments, on the other hand:

In my opinion, the blade is too big on its base: it is hiding the body of the guard, without giving more punch to the miniature. And what about giving them a two handed blade, like Darth Maul, but in blade?
Second, I's say that you must choose betwen the cape or the totem on the back. I prefer the totem, if you ask. Both, it's too much.
On the helmet, rather than a single middle blade, I think too blades, one on each side, would be great.
To finish, I'd say that I would have prefer an other design on the legs, closer to the body armor (on the chest): less round, more straight.

Firstly it's great to see another wip, I love seeing these minis develop. It's also customary for me to ask for a pic of the minis back please.

I agree with Bab about the helmet and legs. I would like to see two blades on the helm and maybe some curved blades emanating from outside the knee joint, to match with the shoulders.

I like the overall shape of the blade, but I'm unsure about the handles/pommels, especially the middle one, it looks very restrictive. I'd prefer a handle on the back of the blade like the backlev*(Trekkie weapon).

I'll add further comments on the back (which looks good from the front) when you reveal it ;)

Aaaarggghhh. Another set of wonderfull 6mm miniatures! Man, you're bleeding me. And customs are a pain...

Anyway, it didn't stop me from buying stuff. Here's some kind of a review: http://boardgamegeek.com/blogpost/26447/onslaught-minis-6mm-tau-vehicles.

Something else, any plans to make heavy-looking robots? Like (giant battlesuit ;)).

Toco: we prefer not to use reference pics for other manufacturers here. Aside from any creativity concerns, certain other companies have a habit of getting shirty about anything that might be considered a competing product using their stuff as inspiration. Please remove the pic, and find a source-neutral example, or just a text one should do

but in answer to your question, there are already fire support rigs, take a look at http://www.onslaughtmini.com/39-raiju-h ... -rigs.html

Deeks:
new dude looks pretty neat, though I agree that a more bladed horns look would improve the helmet, and I'm not sure I like the scythe handle for the sword, it changes the cutting motion in a way that doesnt entirely feel right for that type of blade.

Also, have you raised the price on those OTC tanks? :(

Look forward to seeing what you do with them Toco! And have slightly amended your post for reasons stated by JTG.

ok ok , my bad. no problem. stoopit me.

about the support rigs, I do have those. but they look more like "light" battle suits to me. they don't look very broad or heavy to me. just my opinion. no problem. my army can do without them...

to Onslaught: there's a huge new robot walker now too for the same army. that one is really ripping tides ;) any plans on an alternative version of that one?
