hello,
I read the rulebook of netepic. I think you have made a great deal between the sm2 and e40k with the introducing of your netepic. I saw you listed alle new vehicles and troopps, which former came new in e40k and you transformed all skills like weaponrange and movement into the ruleworld of sm2. but where I can find the army-cards, which we liked so much in sm2. Is there a link where we can download them? regards darkangel

Good question; where have they gone to?

Version 4 cards used to be available with the rules http://netepic.org/EPICentre/Downloads/

And I think there were some in the files section in the Yahoo Group
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/netepic/files/

I suppose they've been removed while being updated for version 5.  Since version 5 is young, it might be a while until the cards are done.  Hopefully they'll be much nicer as well.

You should find that old army cards (if you have any) are still mostly correct (even old SM2 cards), but I'd wait for version 5 anyway.   I can email you the v4 cards (I think I have all of them). if you want them:    nicdp at btinternet dot com

I don't know who it is, but I'm pretty sure someone is working on army cards for version 5.

super! it is great to know that there are still so many fans of the one and only epic world. You must know that the last time we met playing epic was for over 14 years. but now we are back again. but honest...I read the e:a rulebook and I think it is much to heavy for us old guys. we loved the simple way epic has worked althougt we were often in struggle about some parts. but in netepic there are the most of the failures cleaned..great! e. a the weapons of the dreatnought..in the originall rule book they have autocannon with none saveingmod. but in the text above you can read that you can arm them with a varity of weapons...hey frightful, but why these were not in the data sheet? I think you now what I mean. regards darkangel

Sent them again darkangel, this time to your 2nd email you mentioned.  The file size is 9.5MB, and I think that was the problem.  If you don't receive them this time, I'll send them in smaller parts.

About the Dreadnought's, the Punisher is the Space Marine 2nd Ed. dreadnought.  I think they've been making the dreads better, to try and make them useful for something.   They were a waste of space before.

The different weapon versions are for the various dreadnought made before and after.  See the  Netepic Hardware book (netepic.org again) or www.epicollector.com/ for pics.  Netepic has tried to include all models produced, and a few that haven't (like Landraider Crusader- never been one, as far as I know).

Personally I think Netepic's great :) .  But it's worth trying E:A, the game seems to run more smoothly (no orders phase, few pauses in the action), and the complications in the basic rules are matched by fairly simple army lists (no weird and wonderful weapons like Netepic [even Madboyz are not mad, just fearless - boring!).  I suspect E:A tactics may be a bit more interesting, but also be about beating the rules more then beating your opponent?  Maybe if I play a few proper games I'll like E:A more; certainly it seems very popular.

Certainly agree it's worth trying E:A at least a couple of times.  I've noted that some people swear by E:A but some of us have given up on it and gone back to classic :)

hi nick. it worked at all. thank you very much.

I have a great problem with the combination of the armycards. let me explaine the situation like we play epic. we are 6 men. everyone play 1 race. we have marines, orks, sqouts, chaos, guards and tyranids (our edar player is not there, yet). we always play 3 races against 3 races and the combination of this 2 armys is determined randomly. so it could be that marines+orks+sqouts vs. guards+chaos+eldar. but none, neihter the ruleworld of sm2ed, e40k, e:a nor netepic considered this way. so what will be, if marines fight against guards...can the marineplayer take cards from the guards although the faight against each other? And why can the chaos player take the thunderhawk gunship suddenly? the difference between the separate races is getting smaller and smaller...when I look at the armycards from sm2ed, then thee is no gunship in the assortment of chaos. do you know, if the army are mixed together like I escribed above by e:a, too?

E:A has very restricted lists, I think to deliberately keep them characterful and because list balance seems more difficult .

One downside of netepic is overlap between lists.  Again because they want to allow everything, and choas marines should have space marine stuff, since that's what they are plus some choas-ness.  It's up to you to decide the style of army that you want.

Also, if you look more closely at the chaos list, you'll notice you can't just take anything- many different chaos styles- different powers/marine lists.

Follow the "cards" listed in the rule books, and the introduction to the army covers what forces can be legally mixed.  You can't have guard cards for space marines any more then with SM2 rules.

I'm not sure why you are worried- you break the rules having 3 different armys per side anyway  :D

I think we will take the baserules of netepic 5.0 but ignore the armylists and take the very seperatly formed cards from sm2. this make sure that any army keeps their special cards at all. otherwise I think everyone would play chaos glady because they have all. their own magic cards, the mobility of marines, the heavy weapons from guards, the same titans in all classes...I think it is unfair and it cries for a housrule for this. otherwise I will repaint my marines, make them looking angry and then I will have chaos too :D
