I'm thinking about putting together a Chaos army using the excess Space Marines I have lying about. I'm a bit confused about how the army composition goes. You need to buy a Primarch to get a SM Legion card. Do you also need to have a Primarch to get the smalled SM detachment cards? Should I get three primarchs so I can use all 300 of my spare Marines, or is there another way to do this? I want to use the standard Chaos list, mind you, not the optional lists. |

Primarch or Tom could answer this (as soon as they wake up !)  , better than me. ? But IIRC, a CSM Co. is 3 dets of 6 (?) stands each and a Champion stand. ?You can also buy additional CSM dets. And you can buy up to 5 support dets ( tanks, Cultists Deamons, etc.) and then you can have a Primarch command all those units, IIRC. ?

Hi! A chaos legion is 3 detachments of FIVE stands plus ONE chaos champion stand. Primarch's follow the same rules as for greater demons meaning that they need a minimum of 3 support cards attached and a maximum of 5. They may add on special card. In addition to this a primarch may add one addition card in the form of its chaos marine chapter. Thus a fully loaded primarch has 5 support cards one special card and one chaos space marine legion. Now, the yet to be released 5.0 version has some slightly different rules for making chaos spacemarine legions that are similar to traditional SM force constructions and you dont need the primarchs there. So I'd suggest you use those rules rules to make your CSM legions and thus you dont need the primarchs. Primarch |

Well, I've given it some thought, and decided that I will not succumb to the lure of Chaos. ?My Marines will just become members of the Embers of Doom chapter. ?Now I need to find about 30 Rhinos for them... ?
