Hi all,

For ease, I'll drop all links here for those interested in checking out the back catalogue.

2. Favourite Space Marine army lists - https://youtu.be/Zc02HLSR6-g

3. Favourite Eldar army lists - https://youtu.be/OLFNoBLakzA

I've been running the Life of Die Podcast for a few months now and have finally gotten around to discussing Epic! I've put this under Net Epic because a lot of the focus of the podcast will cover this and/or 2nd Edition, but this first podcast is more of a discussion of the various editions of Epic and our history with the game! I hope you enjoy!

In our latest Epic-themed podcast, we discuss our favourite 2nd Edition Adeptus Astartes units and set out some army lists for 2K, 3K, 4K & 5K forces! But do you agree with our choices...? Let us know your preferred lists!

Just had a listen to your first Epic podcast on history of the game, really enjoyed it.

Totally agreed with the impressions of Armageddon. As much as I like the game it's incredible how much of a different experience it gives to 2nd edition and NetEpic. A friend of mine said it felt like a range measuring exercise when we played, and I think that sums it up well for me too. I can totally see why it has become the predominant tournament scene game because it's ideally suited to that environment, but I felt like it was lacking a little 'soul' (if I can say that without sounding like a complete arse!) compared to 2nd ed.

Did laugh about the tale of that one failed armour save and losing the game on account of it, some ones definitely do stick with you!

Cheers Pacific! Thanks so much for giving it a listen and for sharing your thoughts! Ha, I don't think you sound like an arse, I think we all just have our personal favourite versions of the game and I'm sure that others find 2nd Edition a bit overwhelming with most units having unique weapons and/or rules. I think all of that was made much easier for me by being a teenager at the time of release; I do wonder what my middle-aged brain would make of 2nd Edition if seeing it for the first time now!

Yeah, it's funny how that defeat really sticks in my memory! I can't recall if Craig said this in the podcast, but he did remark at some point that defeats seem to stick with you a lot longer than victories do! I think there's a lot of truth in that!

Yes I absolutely know you mean! I can remember Blood Bowl, Epic and Necromunda rules I learned as a child as surely as anything. These days, was trying to learn Warcry recently (which is meant to be just a little more complicated than Yahtzee) and a mate and I spent forever looking at the rules and scratching our heads!

That's a great line on defeats sticking with you. I think my favourite ever was Blood Bowl, and a Dwarf of mine trying to 'go for it' one more square to score a touchdown and win the match. The sequence went: '1' fail -> reroll > '1' fail > failed armour roll > dead > apothecary roll '1' fail > definitely dead.
Still remember the howls of laughter of everyone watching that sequence, but at least now the memory of my dead dwarf has passed and you have to laugh! :)

Looking forward to listening to the other Podcasts now, thanks again! :)

Oh man, what a bad beat! If it's any consolation, your story made me smile and made me feel a little better about the fact that I'm not the only one who has scars like that! ;D

Thanks again for your interest in the podcasts and more are on the way! I'm currently editing another one for next week!

Haha yes indeed when life gives you lemons like that you have to laugh really!

Just listened to the one on Marine army lists and again really interesting. I thought it was a good idea having the visuals on Youtube so you can look at it to see what armies you were both using.
Absolutely know what you mean about putting stuff in buildings, boy were those deadly! Remember seeing the reports in White Dwarf and invariably the buildings would get flattened and the squads inside destroyed - makes you wonder why they bothered! Am actually looking at playing NetEpic now so perhaps that is one change for the better.

Looking forward to listening to more! :)

Thanks again for listening! Yes, there's a number of things I felt Net Epic improved for the better and that was definitely one of the most important. As mentioned in the podcast, it did make units like Whirlwinds less desirable but overall it was a big improvement! The rules for infantry embarking/disembarking vehicles was another little tweak that I thought was a great move - I remember all the discussions about what percentage of the move the vehicle had made and how much therefore infantry had left and the associated calculations; boom, both lose 5cm and suddenly an annoying distraction from the game was removed!

It's things like this that always make me recommend Net Epic to 2nd Edition fans who are unfamiliar with it!

The Chaos podcast is live! But does anyone have some lists which they think might be better?
